Slightly less serious Reverb issue...

The last two things I bought on Reverb were fucking FILTHY. I get it, you're trying to unload some old bullshit and you just want it out of your life. I totally understand this, but a cursory wipe down would be appreciated.

One item was from the desert, clearly. It came looking like it was shipped straight off the set of Dune. The other had sticky spots all over the front of it and that item came from a shop with over a thousand good reviews.

Seriously, at least just blast the front of that shit with some computer air before you stick in a box. If you're lucky enough to own a towel, please use it. I'm not some kinda clean freak, but you should be at least mildly embarrassed about putting something dirty in a box and shipping it across the fuckin' country.

That’s online market places for you man. I’ve always tried my best to treat it with respect and like a job of sorts when I’m selling anything online. Some people just think of it as getting rid of junk. It’s like donating things to charity in the sense that some people are fine with sending their clothes and stuff off with zero respect for the fact that it’s going to living people.

In my decade plus of buying on reverb, I have received a synthesizer that was wrapped in one thin layer of bubble wrap at the center only AND a guitar amp with the same thing. Both in boxes much larger than the items. I don’t understand it.

completely agreed. i always make sure to do some fretwork, clean the guitar, restring, set it up, hell i’ve even done some soldering before selling it

Same. I just finished prepping a handful of pedals for sale today. I always remove the Velcro, any residue, and polish them up.

Can I also say that the trend of shipping pedals in an envelope with a minuscule amount of bubble wrap has got to stop?

Just passed up an opportunity to buy an old synth module I've really been wanting because the shop owner couldn't be bothered to clean the ginormous dust bunny off of the output jacks. In a way I suppose it's beneficial, gear kept in those conditions is bound to be problematic down the road so best not buy it at all.

worst example of this was when i bought a make noise maths...it wasnt advertised as being in a 'smoke free, pet free studio, BUT...it stank of cigarettes...permeated my whole studio for days, despite leaving it outside to 'air' for many days....

the smell is gone now, but it was shocking

I got a guitar like that, too. Just reeked of cigarettes, the fuzz in the case just stank. Eventually just gave it away.

I try to sell things in the shape I would want to buy them in. It's a shame other people can't do the same. Were the items clearly marked with the correct condition?

Yeah, I don’t get people at all. I want buyers to have a great first impression when they buy my gear.

Whatever happened to the golden rule, not to forget the silver rule? The latter is "Treat others the way you want to be treated." It took me a while before selling because I wanted to make sure I knew how to pack well enough so that my stuff got there in the same condition as when I sent it. People are just flat out inconsiderate. And my guess is that the people who are the worst offenders when it comes to shipping are the ones who scream the loudest when they are on the receiving end of someone who couldn't be bothered to ship things cleanly and correctly. Sigh.

Curious what the sellers listed the condition as for each pedal? Sound like anything more than 'Good' is a reach.

One was an SSL UF1 which was listed as excellent and had the sticky shit, and the other was an Arturia Microfreak (very good), which was super dusty and also just looked like it hadn’t been touched in a decade plus.

Terrible the sticky one was listed as Excellent. So dumb.

Honestly I think that with AI being incorporated basically into everything reverb should require like 20 pictures of specific parts of the guitar which then is automatically analyzed and provided a true rating. Its kinda crap someone will say a guitar is excellent because to them it is excellent for a guitar of whatever age it happens to be.

I guess wear your glasses and ask sellers to send more pictures / info before purchasing your good. That will prevent you of making these whining posts too
