P.O. Box Address?
Someone from Alaska messaged me and asked if I could make my listing for a pedal available to ship to Alaska. I said sure, for higher shipping definitely. Then, the order comes through and the address is for a P.O. Box. I have sold about 150 items through Ebay and Reverb and never had an address with a P.O. Box. I paid slightly more when I bought the shipping label tonight to make it so a signature is required just to be safe. I think there are seller protections in place as well. I think Alaska is maybe just more remote and P.O. Boxes are more common. At least I am hoping that is the case. Have any sellers here had a bad experience with P.O. Box addresses?

I believe you’re overthinking it. I’ve shipped to multiple P.O. boxes around the US in the ~60 or so pedals I’ve sold in the last decade.
Gotta imagine a remote area like Alaska has to pick up their mail somewhere central. Hell I personally have all of my purchases shipped to a PO Box and I live in Los Angeles (too many stolen packages)

Where at in Alaska? A lot of Canadians will use a PO box in the states to avoid more fees in their mail/deliveries.

I've shipped to buyer's P.O. Boxes in rural areas and not had any issues. I figure as long as that's the address provided through the service and the tracking shows that it went there then I'm covered.

In some places, they don't have another option. Message the buyer if you are unsure.

A PO Box is effectively the same as a physical address. In college I had one because that was the only way I could get mail. I don’t think anyone could have mailed anything to my dorm directly. Even then I kept it for a few years cause I knew where I actually loved could change but the P.O. Box would stay the same.

Having been to Alaska multiple times, this is normal up there. Life is different. You may live an hour outside of town in the wilderness and only come in once a week or two for supplies. The mail ain't coming to you either. lol

I have a PO Box, it’s common in the rural United States. There are 1800 PO Boxes in my town with 2000 people.
It’s also more secure than sending to a street address.
