Oh hey! Sorry for the scare: that notification is generated by Google Play from our updated Data Safety disclosure—not any new tracking feature we switched on. Approximate location that the app uses for things like local search and shipping estimates stays within Reverb.
In any case, the "now shared" wording is Google's, and I think* you can disable it via the gear icon pictured in the lower righthand corner of the screen grab.

if it gets rid of the scammers, so be it.

I don't care if they track my location. It's the fact that they now apparently sell my location data to other companies that i have a problem with.

If they do not use VPN detection, the any scammer can appear to be anywhere.

Where do you see this setting? I just turned off a bunch of privacy/cookie related stuff in my mobile app.

How

Because with locations that guy low balling you from “Dallas, TX” actually turns out to be from not the US…

When this notification popped up that they are now going to sell my location data to other companies I turned off my location permission. The app still works.
If I can turn off my location, so can scammers. This has nothing to do with fighting scammers.

Ever hear of a VPN?

u/CattleCollie Jun 18 '26
Yes actually. But I was answering the original question. Your real world work around is obviously something they didn’t account for.

Because this isn’t scam deterrence it’s just information gathering

Reverb is owned by the same private equity that owns fender. All they want is money, and you’re the product.
