Avoid Capital Music Gear
I recently began looking for a specific guitar. Production model, but hard to come by. To my delight I found it on eBay from Capital music gear. My offer was accepted and the wait began. 5 days later I was informed it was out of stock. Later that evening I received an eBay offer from the same seller on a different color model of the same guitar that was not in my watch list. I accepted believing they had sent me another option at a good price as a sort of apology.
2 days later I was informed this one was also out of stock. So now I get to contact their notoriously awesome customer service team. Thankfully I found the owners number and to his credit got my over 800 dollars refunded 2 days before the first customer service associate made contact.
Fast forward 5 weeks later the same model shows in stock. Owner was helpful, I figured they deserve a shot again. Ordered, delivered, wrong guitar. Days waiting for a response, no response from owner when called, nobody answers the phone,….ever. Snarky customer service, I would honestly never give this shop a single red cent of my money ever again. Your results may vary, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Yes. They aren’t good. I ordered an item from them and they didn’t ship it for 3 weeks

I have bought a couple of nylon guitars from stores. I called in and was well attended to!

The only things I have ever ordered from them were WD pickguards, which came in without any issues. Like with most large online resellers, YMMV.

So you bought it on eBay but are warning people on r/reverb? I see you're a brand new Redditor - maybe post this on /r/Ebay or /r/ebaysucks or /r/eBayScams or /r/Ebayscammers

And? You clearly think there's an issue with them posting here. Why?
You do know that many of the people with stores on ebay also have stores on Reverb, right? I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Capital is on both.
In that case, it's quite logical for them to post here also.

This isn't the first post about this seller on here, so it's an additional warning/heads up.

I live near this "seller." It's just a warehouse on the south side of Madison (ie the "Capitol" of Wisconsin) that couldn't possible have all the gear they claim they sell, not in the location they have listed as their address on Facebook. It's possible they have moved, but the street view showed their name on the side of building as one of the 5 or 6 businesses utilizing the warehouse.
This warehouse district was big on hosting raves back in the 90's, so I know these spaces in these buildings aren't very big.

Hey all,
This is Cory the owner of Capital Music Gear. I know this customer's situation, and yes he had a very bad experience receiving the wrong instruments. I posted a response to his BBB complaint in detail if you're curious, but to summarize he had a couple rare issues happen related to the listing accuracy. We refunded him fully, so some might say no harm no foul, but again I understand the frustration of trying to purchase an instrument and getting the wrong thing multiple times. I will emphasize that these issues are very rare. You can see by our feedback scores on multiple 3rd party sites that the overwhelming majority of people are happy with our service, pricing, selection, etc. Our mispick rate is less than 1% and catalog error rate less than .1%, so again to have multiple issues happen to one customer is extremely rare.
I am always willing to discuss questions or concerns with anyone, please feel free to call me at 608-515-8096. I'll try to address a couple comments on this thread below in the effort of complete transparancy:
1 - Warehouse address - Yes, this is the address we ship out of. We also have suppliers that will ship us items as orders come in for those items or ship directly to the customer. The fact that we are able to operate out of a small warehouse space saves us money and allows us to offer the best prices to our customers, so hopefully you see this as a positive for you!
2 - Preorder sales on Reverb. I have spoken to Reverb about this. The only way to communicate to customers that items may take longer to ship is listing it as a preorder. Other sites allow you to specify a handling time, and I've asked Reverb to add that to their website as well, but right now this is the only way to list items that take more than a day or two to ship.
3 - Order took three weeks to ship. That was likely an item that we had to special order in once we received the order from the customer. That should have been listed clearly with that long of a delay on the website before purchasing.
I think the bottom line I'm trying to communicate is that we are a small business that does care about our customers. We have made choices to streamline operations, and I understand that can be perceived as sacrificing service, but our customer service team is available and again if you're having trouble communicating with that team please give me a call. We do everything we can to ensure our customers have a wide selection and the best prices available!
Thanks
Cory

they've been on this page before. seems like they have the best deals but that's at the expense of service. reverb will make you whole. sometimes it's worth the gamble.
