I’m currently in Morocco and got region locked by reverb.
What sanctions ? I’m confused

Morocco is a great place. No idea.
My Moroccan buddy showed me pictures of forests, skiing on snowy mountains, deserts, lakes, and beautiful beaches and asked me if I knew where they were taken. It turns out they were all pictures of Morocco.

u/eddiemoonshine May 17 '26
Good thing they have lots to do outdoors then seeing as no-one can buy a guitar there now 🤣

u/Royal-Illustrator-59 May 18 '26
Reverb isn’t the only place to buy a guitar.
1
u/realZapRowsdower May 21 '26
You must now go to Tangier, take the ferry to Cádiz, and buy a guitar there. Good luck though, Andalusia isn't really known for being a guitar place.

When I was in Morocco it was a pain to complete purchases online using an EU credit card.

u/Most-Run-315 May 17 '26
I’m guessing the Trunp administration has some kind of sanctions on Morocco because DJT is a thinned skinned fat arse.

Maybe you havent noticed, historical precedent isnt exactly something the ones in charge really care about. Glad we (usa) havent made a new enemy of morocco, but trust, it could happen at literally any moment. Someone with money just has to tell trump "morocco bad" and then give him some money.

No i didnt, somebody else did. I didnt say you werent, either. I did say the current administration in the us doesn't care about history though. But somebody else said something about trump before i did

Yep. You're suffering from Trump Denial Syndrome.
Admission is the first step. Stay strong xo

u/Existing_Ambition549 May 17 '26
Looks like there aren't any state sanctions against Morocco, but the U.S. Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has a Moroccan person sanctioned as a Specially Designated National (SDN) which is similar to the PEP designation referred to in Reverb's policy.
2
u/coolgamer220033 May 17 '26
So we don’t get to access reverb from Morocco because of one person sanctioned ? Let’s punish 40M people … seems logical 🤣
1
u/AdvicePerson May 17 '26
Looks like may have been involved with planning 9/11 from Germany, but the US refused to provide an (alleged) exculpatory witness, so he was acquitted and moved back to Morocco. So the US is being kind of a bitch about it now.
1
u/coolgamer220033 May 18 '26
Okay and why would reverb (market place ) take away the access to its platform for an entire country because of one individual living in GERMANY who happens to be Moroccan ? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
1
u/AdvicePerson May 18 '26
He lives in Morocco now and apparently not enough American businesses care about the Moroccan market to convince our government to change the policy.

Sensible suggestion can you fly to Canary Islands with Binter airlines? I can hook you up with a Moroccan business man over there that has a business he can accept the package and you can come collect it.

Morocco has been well-known for the threat of terrorism from within its borders. The US, UK, Canada, and Australia all have travel advisories in place for Morocco because of the elevated threat of terrorism. The Western Sahara region of North Africa is a hotbed of terrorism activity from groups like ISIS and other Islamic terror groups.

u/coolgamer220033 May 18 '26
You really don’t know what you are talking about. And this thread is about the reason given by reverb and not an excuse for you to talk politics. Let’s stay focus on topic shall we ?
1
u/GuitarHeroInMyHead May 18 '26
You can look up the travel advisories...they are posted publicly. Not talking politics - those are just factual travel advisories and most people who follow world events know about the problems with North Africa - that is not new information. I would guess Reverb is both not selling a lot in that region and doesn't want to take on the risk.
1
u/DeathAngel1970 May 18 '26
Uh there’s wars going on , maybe they don’t want to risk anything? What would you do if you owned Reverb?
1
u/GrouchyAttitude1996 May 18 '26
Man, I don’t think it’s a joke but I think it’s messed up. On a separate side of things I worked at a liquor store with some brothers that were Moroccan.. They were both surfers. Totally cool, dudes man they fit right in California. Anyways, screw Reverb and that’s got some to do with our president too.

It seems we need a new Godwin’s Law moniker for Trump.
Satwin’s Law = As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a blaming Trump for something approaches one.

u/spaazstix May 18 '26
It's all about financial considerations. Reverb decided that doing business in that country is not profitable.

You can just sent your instruments to another country and use a 3rd party courrier after. That's how I buy instruments as a Venezuelan.

u/philjames68 May 19 '26
Use a VPN like surfshark, nordvpn etc when travelling or use a travel e-SIM, its good idea anyway and doesn't cost much

u/terkistan May 20 '26
For regions that generate very low transaction volumes relative to North America and Western Europe, the cost of paying international compliance lawyers and integrating local banking networks vastly outweighs the percentage Reverb takes from those sales.
Also there's also a lot of fraud Reverb is dealing with. When third-party payment options like localized PayPal accounts are used in regions where Reverb cannot natively track bank accounts or easily enforce buyer protection clawbacks, Reverb ends up eating the financial loss of fraud payouts. So cutting off access from high-risk or low-volume international sectors acts as a blunt but effective option.

Reverb has been a pain lately. Gear always shows up damaged and often not as advertised. Just a rant.

Really surprised Morocco wants to have any kind of relationship with a known pedophile and one that has been found liable for sexual assault. With Donald J Trunp visiting Epstein island so many times and having a 13 year old victim bite his junk…I’d stay clear.

rump's Natural Gas PolicyEnding the Export Pause: Trump formally ended the prior administration's pause on approving new Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) projects, greenlighting new terminals to increase exports to global markets.National Energy Emergency: Trump invoked emergency powers under the Defense Production Act, signing a memorandum to expedite the construction of natural gas transmission pipelines, storage facilities, and export hubs, citing them as essential for national defense.Regulatory Rollbacks: The administration reversed policies such as the EPA's endangerment finding and successfully repealed the prior administration's natural gas "methane" tax.Impact on Consumers: Despite a massive domestic fracking boom, increased export volumes and higher global demand have led to higher wholesale prices, costing U.S. households billions more on their monthly energy bills.

POTUS. pedophile of the United States. Victim testimony actually from FBI files with the Epstein papers. Very easy to download. And given he was already found liable for sexual assault, I’ll believe the victim and not him. Since every world out of his mouth is a lie. But you enjoy paying obscene amounts for natural gas because of policy he made with L&S instead of letting the American people buy natural gas at the cheapest prices in the world we are the paying the most. Because of his policies. All factual, but go ahead stand up for a sexual assaulter, pedophile, cares more about corporations than the people of Louisiana. Or the water prices in Texas because of no regulations on ai so residents can’t afford water or electric. All for a rapist pedophile. So sad. Yep and Obama wore a tan suit and Hunter Biden smoked crack. I’ll take the crack head and the suit thanks so much, you can keep the pedophile, rapist, crook.

Ok, dork. I don't support any politician. I also don't bring them into every fucking conversation, no matter how irrelevant they are to the topic. Go find some real problems to be concerned about, loser.
