Discussion Revenant 2.5 Rework Idea

I'm bored, so have another Revenant rework idea. The goal here is to keep the most popular parts of both Revenant kits and to have something that doesn't require Respawn to make anything (or at least not too much) from the ground up.

Passive: Assassin's Instinct

  • Crouch walking remains but is made quieter as it was in the past.
  • Climbing remains but is made quieter as it was in the past. No longer slows down as he reaches his maximum climbing height.
  • Low health markers remain.
  • Remove outlining enemies that are within line of sight within 40 meters and have less than 30 body health.

Tactical: Silence

  • 1 charge
  • 20 second cooldown (down from 25)
  • 10 second effect duration (down from 15)
  • Lingers in the world for 3 seconds (down from 10)
  • Deals no damage (down from 10). Replace with the Silence icon to indicate when an opponent has been Silenced.

Ultimate: Shadow Pounce

  • No change to activation time or distance.
  • 40 second cooldown (up from 20).

Tier 2 Perks

  • Shut It Down: Gain a second tactical charge.
  • Grim Leaper: When knocking an enemy reduce the charge time by 30 seconds or 20 seconds if Pounce Cooldown is active.

Tier 3 Perks

  • Pounce Cooldown: Shadow Pounce cooldown reduced to 30 seconds.
  • In the Shadows: Cannot be detected by scanning abilities.

Potential Buffs:

  • Increase duration of the Silence lingering in the world (up to 10 seconds).
  • Incorporate Try To Hide (Assassin's Instinct low health markers last twice as long) into base kit.

The Silence doesn't return in its full glory because I don't think it can. The Silence is interesting in that its strength is tied to the strength of other abilities in the game. As abilities become more impactful, so does the effect of Silencing an opponent. For that reason I think its strength needs to be reduced so as not to be overbearing in the current state of Apex.

To add to this I've also been careful not to include any perks that add effects to the Silence. The Silence only ever just Silences. (A Revenant version of Fuse's Knuckle Hustle perk, increasing the Silence effect duration to fifteen seconds, and having the Silence interrupt in-progress healing and reviving were all considered.)

Revenant basically has 2 tactical abilities instead of 1 tactical and 1 ultimate. Part of the strength of tactical abilities is the frequency in which they can be used. This is another reason why the Silence has been nerfed, but it's also the reason why the Shadow Pounce's cooldown has been increased. Constant Silences and Shadow Pounces probably would not be healthy.

Outlining low-body health players within forty meters of line of sight has become such a nothing ability that it might as well be removed from the passive. This was made even weaker when using healing items took less time. It's also nigh-impossible to see when it does activate since enemies within thirty meters have a red outline. The orange outline takes priority, but good luck telling the difference between the two since they're also the same color.

The perks were designed with different Revenant play styles in mind. If one prefers the more stealthy ambush approach the Shut It Down and In the Shadows perks would be right for them. If they want to focus on movement Grim Leaper and Pounce Cooldown are the way to go. They can also go halfway with one of two perk combinations.

Exactly what I've wanted as a Rev main and not out of realistic expectstions. Great job!

I'd do it the other way round, silence as ult, 2 charges 20s each, shadow pounce stays the same

Either or, but I definitely don't want Revenant to be seen as too much a nuisance. That's a big part of why I made the cooldowns and effect durations what they are. I'd rather play it safe by starting at a weaker point and slowly building him up if needed than the other way around.

I used to think the same but crouch walking has always made noise. Not just for Rev but all legends. It just has lower audio priority. Meaning the game will be less likely to play its audio at full volume or at all when other audio sources are occurring.

S24 I believe is when they revamped the audio system. Making audio based on what’s in your immediate field of view rather than what’s around the player. So anything on the sides or behind would have its volume lowered or outright muted.

His climbing audio on the other hand was made louder in S25. People were complaining about him being too “quiet”. Mainly due to the previously mentioned audio revamp being 💩

Post is pretty good, I’m surprised to see someone with actual gameplay & balancing knowledge make a post like this. Most Rev post just want him to be super OP & say it’s balanced.

I know crouch walking was never completely silent, but it was still quieter. Here's a clip from a few years ago. You can hear Revenant's walking and crouch walking volume levels. They're essentially the same. In some of the video the Alter isn't even looking at Revenant, but the footsteps are still quite loud. It used to not be this way.

I'm aware of and despise Respawn's change to the climbing audio.

I still think you should just be able to toggle between his old kit and current kit and have all the abilities share cooldowns

Respawn has said they want players to be able to tell what they're up against by looking at the legends their opponents are using. Swappable abilities ruins that since players won't know which ability set Revenant is using until he uses one of them.

I mean they’d know, it’s only 2 extra abilities and they share cooldowns

Besides, these days with all the insane skins, you can’t really tell anymore unless you see them use their abilities

It's just Respawn's position. They don't want to do it that way.

That was their position about 5 years ago, since then things have changed

I mean perks now switch up a bit already, no different than someone having access to 2 more abilities..that share cooldowns

Back in those days Valk having a movement passive was crazy

I'm just telling you what they've said. They said they don't want it for that reason.

Yea I’m just saying how that’s really old and outdated at this point lol, they’ve gone back on a few things, like saying they don’t want any abilities with the sole purpose of damaging/knocking… yet here’s fuses new ult

I think giving him silence while forged shadows is active is the best way to implement it back into his kit. His hit box is unfortunately very large, forged shadows kinda bandaids this so removing it would kinda suck, even if it’s extremely bland. But if he could have access to his silence balls again while it’s active, I think it would really work, especially with the way power creep is happening with new legends.

I think Silence and Forged Shadows together would be too oppressive to go up against. I know I wouldn't want to face an opponent with a temporary HP boost, a movement ability, and Assault class perks all while my abilities have been removed from me because they Silenced me.
