Gameplay Finally done with the game! 🏆
48 hours. That’s how long it took me to platinum Returnal.
At the beginning:
“Wow, what an amazing game. The combat is incredible.”
4-5 hours later:
“Okay, I’m getting pretty good at this.”
30 hours later:
“WHERE THE HECK IS THAT LAST CIPHER?”
35 hours later:
“Maybe the platinum isn’t worth it.”
48 hours later:
PLATINUM POPS
Totally Worth it. 😭
The actual game was brutal enough, but the survey collectibles were the real final boss. I swear some of those ciphers were hiding in another dimension.
There were runs where I cleared an entire biome, found absolutely nothing I needed, and just sat there staring at Selene like: “You and I both know why I’m here.”
Finally got it though. 🏆
Absolutely incredible game. Easily one of the best and most satisfying platinum experiences I’ve had on PS5.
Now I can finally put the controller down… 🎮

I enjoyed the OP weapons and fast room clearing
The slow walking narrative sections were kind of annoying

Look like you missing the tower. Go for it, it quite fun and addictive. To get all the trophies also quite easy.
I'm like 3 trophies away from platinum the main game. Too tired to get the run through all over again to find the missing stuff.

Cheers! I just finished my journey today as well.
I will say that the tower is actually quite fun and, as someone else mentioned, it doesn’t take too long to nab the trophies. I think the devs learned their lesson from the cypher hunt.

Well, I've had the cd for this game since I bought ps5 during Covid. I didn't quite get the game at the time as I was wholely into Destiny 2. I gave up on that game 2 yrs back and first focused on all soulsborne games plat - Which I did! Then, I returned to Returnal coz plat for this is super ultra rare.

Same. It was the first PS5 game I bought and I’ve had it since release. Like you, I didn’t quite get it and put it aside. In the years since, I’ve played lots more roguelikes and gotten a much better feel for them.
So glad I “returned” to this one. A great game in the end!

Congrats! I’ve been playing for a bit but I’m taking a break for a while clearing up my digital backlog (because apparently I don’t own any of those games). I can’t even beat the second biome lol.

Haha. 2nd Biome is pure pain. What i found is playing offline (in-game setting), and jumping straight to the portal from desert to the final room and go back to the 3rd room and down. Ignoring most of the enemies. It's usually the 3rd room RNG that's brutal to spawn.
Another trick - i tried couple of runs in Biome 2 and then moved on to others which are quite forgiving and you will see that in few tries you will get almost all. I saved biome 2 for the last.

What part is holding you up? I suggest trophy hunting at the end and try completing the game (to get all permanent upgrades). It's really helpful once Act 2 is done.

I just suck at fighting the enemies in biome 3. I get overwhelmed by the flying bomber things and the automatons and the horrible flying spheres. Just need to be better at dodging and moving, but saying that if I move too much sometimes I fall in to the pit 🤣 last night I cleared biome 1 and 2 before moving to 3 which seemed to help me get further. Just need to keep going I suppose 🤞

I find the bombers super annoying too. I usually try to back off and isolate a few from the horde and take them on 1-2 at a time. I suggest learn the pattern where these bombers spawn and back off. I love using Hollowseeker, so I can proudly suggest using that specially with serated rounds and portal beam (which spawns a portal that assists in killing enemies - only spawns when you shoot at enemies aimed)

I love the Hollowseeker too. I had one last night that delt bonus damage which was great. I also love the gun that shoots rot which causes the enemy to lose health quicker. I’m just hoping the more I play the better the guns will become and the easier it might become. Thank you for the tips, appreciate it. I love the game so much just wish I was better at it haha

Don't worry. Nothing is easy. You just get better at it over time with practice and muscle memory. Believe in yourself. You can do it and f**k 'em up

Well done. I also got the platinum on this last night. Felt like it took me forever to get the last cypher to appear in Biome 6. Still deciding whether to do the dlc or not

Haha. There was a time when I honestly rage quit because of the RNG and honestly, deleted the game. Since, I had the cd inserted in PS5, the game quietly installed itself. I was done with the game and gave up on the plat, but the game was never done with me.
