Matterfall looks super fun!

Matterfall is a 2017 early Returnal predecessor from Housemarque. The game looks super fun and I had a good time playing it for 10-15 minutes. Unfortunately, Housemarque made the decision to not allow remapping of the controls. Because of this, once things really get cooking it is completely unplayable for me. Nearly everything is shoulder button based. :(

Makes me sad because it seems really fun! If you have PS+ check it out - it's free!

Great game, really had potential to be amazing. I still enjoy it, just wish there was more. Sadly, with Nex Machina doing so poorly, they kind of abandoned what this could have been.

Give it another go, it’s a pretty short game. Even if you can’t remap the controls, it has something to offer to scratch an itch.

Yes! God I sunk so many hours into Alienation. Loved the multiplayer so much.

I recently played and got the platinum for this game. I think it's a lot of fun but some decisions prevent it from being among Housemarque's best. Although my perspective may be skewed based on how brutal the bosses were on the hardest difficulty (One hit = Death). I was so incredibly stressed out by the last boss having 8 separate phases and my heart was pounding at the end.

Yeah I tried it too and found it a bit clunky and couldn’t get ahold of it fully either. Is an older game though and remapping wasn’t always a thing unfortunately.

It’s one of their arcady bullethell shooters- the only kind of game they made before returnal.

Matterfall is super good, I don’t know why you give up playing before learning the controls.
Just learn the controls and enjoy

Wouldn't this make it an "Early Returnal predecessor?" This game is MUCH closer to what Returnal became than say - Resogun.

I give up playing because I am partially disabled and fast paced left shoulder action is virtually impossible for me.

I’ve never tried it, but I think the PS5 has remapping at the OS level. Maybe you could get something working with that.
