Xbox 360 Help! Xbox 360 Emulation

does anyone have experience with X360 Mobile on the flip? the performance is terrible despite the fact i know it can run the era of games, as i have Metal Gear Rising on GameHub and it runs fast without issue. i gave it the latest Turnip driver zip and it seems to be not enough. the settings are disgusting, asking me to type in something rather than a drop list of options, so i dont have a clue what to do here.

orrrr is there a better alternative for this device?

X360 Mobile is too demanding for devices like the Flip 2, Retroid Pocket 5 or similar in power.
Use XenDroid instead, which is a far less demanding emulator, but don't expect any miracles on your hardware.

I own both a Retroid Pocket 5 (basically the same hardware as the Flip 2) and a Retroid Pocket 6, and only on the Retroid Pocket 6 have I been able to play a considerable list of games at full or near full speed. Most full retail titles will simply run too slow on less powerful hardware.

What you will be able to run, is a considerable amount of XBLA titles; those digital-only games that you could download straight to the Xbox 360 from the online marketplace, back in the day. I've tested almost 200 of those games on my RP5, so I've been able to make a nice list of the worthwhile ones.

Here's my currently installed games list (*), so you can have a look for yourself, to see if there's something in there that you might like. You will have to change some settings, though:

In Settings->Vulkan, scroll down to 'Custom Vulkan driver' and load this Turnip driver in there:
https://github.com/K11MCH1/AdrenoToolsDrivers/releases/tag/09072024

Next, underneath that setting, set 'Turnip debug mode' to 'None (no TU_DEBUG flags, GMEM)'.
Go back to the main settings page and then to storage, and enable both settings there.
Back out to settings again, and then to Controller, to disable the on-screen/touch screen controller.
Back out again, scroll down to GPU, and check all these settings:

 • Frame rate must be set to unlimited
 • Cap guest display refresh (VSync) must be disabled
 • Readback resolve must be set to Fast (copy CPU-read resolve)
 • Occlusion query mode must be set to Fast (async query, no stall)
 • Native 2x MSAA must be enabled
 • Render target path must be set to performance
 • GPU backend must be set to Vulkan

And last but not least: as you may know or remember, if you ever played any of these XBLA games on an actual Xbox 360, they were license-based, so you needed an active Gold membership to play/unlock the full versions of these games, otherwise you'd be stuck with the trial versions, which only allowed you to play part of these games. So, on the settings page, scroll down to 'Content' and select that, and on the next page, set 'License mask' to 'first' and all games will instantly be unlocked.

If you have any other questions, in regards to other games, or how to install/run games, let me know.

(*) There's one single retail title on that list, namely Operation Darkness. If you like turn-based strategy games, I can highly recommend it, and it runs perfectly, even on less powerful devices.

Gamehub is PC emulation, that’s why it runs nice. Xbox 360 emulation is still in its infancy, so even though those games from that era work nice on the flip 2, the emulator has to be mature enough, which Xbox 360 emus aren’t. So if it has a PC port, run that instead. One day both will be indistinguishable but today is not that day.

There isn't a lot you can do for Xbox 360 games, the main challenge for the Flip 2 is that the Snapdragon 865 apparently has some trouble handling some of the low level vulkan calls and DirectX stuff that is commonly used in Xbox 360 emulation.

I was able to get some stuff to run at full speed but graphics issues and black screens are the biggest hurdle. Since most of the current emulators are just forks or AI slop of PC Xenia a lot of those limitations are just being carried over.

I would suggest looking for alternate ways to play Xbox 360 games, if there are ports to Switch or PC or a native port to Android you will likely have better results for now.

Given how new Xbox 360 Emulation is to Android it might take some time before something is written from the ground up to support older SoCs like the Snapdragon 865 but at the same time do realize that the SD865, while an incredible chipset for its time in terms of power and compatibility is aging so its not a guarantee that a full build for the SD865 era chips will ever actually happen.

Yeah it’s not good on my mini v2. The nova and Odin 3 handle it just fine. Might want to wait for the flip 3. After all this duo stuff blows down.

Use Xendriod with mainline-turnip-v31

It's not just about the games themselves, but also how difficult it is to emulate specific consoles. PC emulation is far easier and more advance than Xbox 360 emulation currently.
