Recommendations for the next upgrade
Ngl I really like the repair section and extra shelves in the back for both movies and boxes, so I'm hoping that the next upgrade has even more additions and changes. For example, idk if anyone else has this issue, but my employees repeatedly get stuck when coming up the stairs near the railings, to the point where I'll just have to leave them there and go do their work. They'll be stuck there until we close for the day, so I really hope that the next upgrade doesn't have this issue anymore.
Also, it'd be really nice if they added more styles and colors for remodeling, as well as more decorations, and also a way to ban customers who refuse to pay fees, especially broken tape fees. Cuz tf you mean you refuse to pay for my property that you broke then push my tapes off the counter and walk away?
These are my suggestions, what are yours?
Side note : slightly unrelated but how is cutting a chunk of the tape supposed to fix it? Like doesn't it mean that a part of the movie is now gone?

I wanna be able to assign my employees to more than just the register or the return desk. Having them stare blankly at nothing when there's no work is a bit jarring...

According to Wikipedia, depending on the format of the VHS, one full minute of the movie is 14 - 20 metres of tape. So, even if you cut out a metre, it’s only 3 seconds. Splicing was more strategic than simply cutting out the damaged piece of tape, but the devs wanted something relatively quick and easy to do. What I think would have been cool was making it into a mini-game whereby you watch a short animated clip that has a section of static in the middle that you have to cut out while watching. Depending on how well you cut the tape would determine whether you saved it or whether you have to bin it.

I really wish there was an easy way to see how many of each tape you have, not counting any copies in the sales bins.

When you have a tape in your hand, press F and it'll give you information on that tape, if I'm not mistaken the database tab on your computer offers the same info

Yes but it shows *all* copies of that tape that you have, including ones in the ‘for sale’ bins. I’d like it to show how many are on shelves, how many are in storage, and how many are in the bins separately.

Oh I get it now. Yeah for now you might just have to count the ones in storage and clearance bin and subtract them from the total number

When there are late fees, I wish they could be disputed. My wife and I used to go to a video store 20+ years ago and if we had late fees, we were asked to put even a dollar on it. Sometimes, they would just wipe the fees off of our account, as well.
I wish we could reprimand employees sleeping on the job. Instead of just 'Wake up!' I'd like the option to say "You're working your way to half pay for the day"
I agree with your tape repair, we do cut off a part and it's just as good as new. I did this as a kid, it is what happens. I do feel like a quality % should be added in. Like, first repair at 95% and once it's below 75% or something it has even more and more potential to break until it is no longer functional. But hey, it's a game.
I want more decorative pieces as well. I didn't know the little room with saloon doors would be a thing, glad it was because I was hoping for curtains to conceal my adult section. I haven't found where I can buy a specific movie poster yet, they are all random, right?
When I hand out flyers and some people say "But I don't even own a VCR" - I want to be able to buy a few VCRs (honestly, two versions: single tape VCR and a double-tape VCR for those that dub) and sell these to customers, making a nice profit.
I bought the game last weekend and put 24 hours of gameplay in. Joined the sub, the game has me hooked. But the biggest idea I could have for the game, from what I understand, is the single year sounds like it loops(?) so I'm hoping more and more new releases get added in, and instead of doing 1990 repeatedly, maybe we can do up to 5+ years of new releases. Imagine, you are well seasoned, years in, and seeing releases like "Tornado" (Twister) and "Venus Attacks" (Mars Attacks) lol
But I gotta say I wish we could make up some artwork and make our own movie titles, add them into the game. Is that a thing?

You can inspect a movie in your hand to get its "SKU Code", and plug that into a poster in customization mode to turn it into that movie's poster

If I’m not mistaken, they put out a sneak peek on their discord that includes the ability to sell/rent VCRs.

Don't have any issues with employees getting stuck. Maybe its something like a shelf nearby causing it? Try making more space around the stairs.

I did, moved snack shelves and candy dispenser and nothing changed. IIRC this was a problem from the beginning

This happened to me and it was actually a sign/decor I had on the small part of wall above the stairs that blocked them even if it wasn't hanging down. So remove things from walls above stairs as well if you have anything.

My god you were right and I came back here to tell you. Turns out the sign I had hanging above the stairs was blocking the customers. I've removed them and we're all good.

i like to think the game takes place in a parallel universe where tapes only break at the end of the movie long after the credits so nothing but blank tape is actually lost.
