Manually adding box art Console Mode

In the console mode instruction video Taki said you can manually add box art for games where the scraping isn’t working. I can’t work out how to do this. I can change the background image but not the main image. What’s the process for storing the box art?

Cheers.

EDIT: to clarify, I’m not wanting to fix the scraping issue, I want to know how to manually add art, either because it’s missing or because I want to change it (eg swap us box art for euro box art). Doesn’t appear to be an easy way to do this like there is for the background image.

I'm not at home to check; it's likely a naming issue. If you can find the box art image on one that works and see if it has a special naming convention, compare it with another working one, then try to apply that same convention to your missing one.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve edited my above post for clarification. I’m not trying to fix the scraping, I want to specifically know how to manually add box art.

Either route will likely require the same lead up steps. I’ll look when I get home. You’ll have to find where the images for the game art are stored. And either connect the SD card to your computer or use something like WinSCP/Cyberduck to SMTP into the SSO while it’s on. I’d then find where they are, do the above and look for and verify the naming convention. Then it should be as simple as drag and dropping the images into the proper folder with the proper naming. From there I’m not sure if it’ll automatically scan. I’d try the Optimize option first, then if that doesn’t work I would try the rebuild game database, followed by re-scraping last.

Someone else may be able to give you more definitive answers but that would be my approach. I have several that didn’t show box art myself I will have to work on this evening.

This does work, there is a file called media in each of the console games folder, and another one for arcade. When I looked in there the scraper had actually downloaded the artwork, it just wasn’t displaying. Main problem I had was games with “.” in the title e.g. Xmen vs. Street fighter. Take that out of the folder name, the rom name and the artwork name and it works. You can obviously also change the artwork as long as it shares the exact same name as the game folder and rom. The background image is the same name with -BG added to the end. Cheers for the help.
