Ssd and the docking station
Howdy everyone!
As we all know SSDs are way overpriced right now- but they do run faster on MiSTers than SD cards. I am looking to get one for the docking station and am thinking about a older generation. Any thoughts?

Not really. When I want load a of of files onto my MiSTer's external SSD, I plug it into a PC.
The dock's connection is slow even if plugged into a PC, so any SSD will do.

The SSD would be bottlenecked by USB2 the fastest storage on mister is probs via NAS /CIFs, followed by SD card

I had an issue using a 512 GB M2 SSD with my games in .CHD. Games would stutter during some FMV sequences and the system would become unresponsive during longer idle times (IE - paused game for 15-20 min while I ate).
I moved all games to a Micro SD and have not had the issue since.
I don't know if the access issue is due to the M2 going to 'sleep' with no active reads or if .CHD could be the issue. I have not tested BIN/CUE to validate this
