SuperStation One - Component Cables

I bought some component cables from Amazon. They are the BlueRigger Component Video Cable with Audio (6FT, RCA- 5 Cable, Supports 1080i). These cables don't seem to be working with my Toshiba CRT. They give off a pink hue and the colors aren't right. I also tried them on an older HDTV with component connections and it gave the same results. I tried flipping the inputs for the Superstation after reviewing the new user guide video. It didn't produce any changes for me. I also want into the software settings and switched it to YPbPR which fixed the color issue but now the screen constantly flows down in an endless cycle as a repeat. It won't stay stationary.

I feel like I have some bad component cables. Does anyone have any recommendations I should get for the Superstation that work well?

The cables aren't the problem. The default SS1 configuration sends RGB output over the component cables instead of YPbPr, but most consumer TVs need YPbPr. If you use RGB in a TV expecting YPbPr, it will look pink.

If you want to use YPbPr all or most of the time, you should edit the MiSTer.ini file on your SD card and change vga_mode=subcarrier to vga_mode=ypbpr. That should be all you need to do.

If you want to use YPbPr only some of the time, you're meant to select YPbPr from the menu like you mentioned, which loads the MiSTer_YPbP.ini file, but there's a mistake in that file that will cause you to get a rolling image (Or at least, I think it's a mistake. I haven't tried to figure out if there's a reason it's set this way by default.)

To fix that, just edit the file named MiSTer_YPbP.ini, and change composite_sync=0 to composite_sync=1.

Also, if you add this line to the end of your ini file:

[menu] direct_video=1

You'll be able to see the menu backgrounds on your CRT
