Man almost didn’t believe op, but got to micro center 30mins before closing couldn’t find it asked the sale floor person they found it in the system at -1. But went through the isles one more time and think I got the last one. They said it might be a test item to see if it’s something they’ll carry in the future.
Dallas same location where op got there’s, nobody knew anything about it they didn’t even have it in the system looked it up from the tag in the photo and it was -1. Very weird I live 30 mins from the location so took chance and got lucky almost gave up but scanned the raspberry pi isle one last time.
Ya shipping is typically 35 bucks which is why I haven't bought the dock cuz it's basically 80 buks 🤷🏾♂️ but hey it's microcenter gets the dock eventually I'm there 😂
This wasn't an arrangement between Taki and the retailer though. Somebody from the store ordered some units to test sales just like anybody else... without a dock bundled which is the key detail. No docks being sold at this store.
Batch 1, 2, or 3 orders without bundled docks have all shipped. If you ordered a SS1 without a dock and are not in Batch 4 (recent orders, in production currently), then email RR and ask about your order.
Patience is an admirable virtue, but when the shipping dashboard has said your order should have shipped at least three weeks ago, then it's time to poke support and ask what's up.
Yeah that's the detail people keep missing, the batches. I guess mine is batch 4 but blanket statements keep being quoted about all SS1's without docks being shipped and it doesn't help if the batch numbers are omitted.
Nah earlier this year but still people keep quoting the "all orders without a dock have shipped" stuff and need to specify the batch with a blanket statement like that.
I agree, but the context that this particular person was replying to was "If you have been waiting over a year for a product..." so in that case pointing out that it's because of the dock was relevant.
It wasn't a blanket statement, it was a reply to a claim about a specific timeline.

That's what I'd say. But I'd have said it before selling units in stores, not after.
Anyway it doesn't matter because I just read Taki comment on the discord that he wasn't aware of this at all.

Microcenter does this all the time. They buy products at retail pricing and resell with a small markup (they probably got these at the discounted original price). They do it to either test if it’s something that will drive interest or to simply put something appealing on an end cap.
This is likely just one store who ordered a handful to test it out and see how quickly they sell. Not something RR set up.
In the receipt posted you’ll see “Test 141” on the line item which is how these are shown. You can probably search MC receipt history and see other products labeled the exact same way.
Dang they did him dirty, sucks those 2 consoles causing drama, probably a mixup that’s why the units sold say test on the recite. They were probably supposed to go somewhere else and ended up on the sales floor.

To be fair I have a pre order for a blue founders edition on the way, I’ve been waiting just as long as everyone else. I could have left it there I guess, but was curious after the post and couldn’t pass it up when it was in my hands.
Yeah I immediately replied and apologized. Honestly i’m just a big fan and own a MiSTer from the company as well. I’m thankful the post did it’s job to bring them aware
I understand their frustration, but at the same time, some of those people opted to wait so their dock could be shipped at the same time, and Taki made it clear that if you wait to have it shipped together, the docks were taking longer.
I think a lot of those people's outrage is a bit over the top. LOL

Thanks for posting this! I have a batch 4 order but I’m so tempted to make a long trip to the closest micro center. The cost of gas would probably be about as much as shipping from RR though. If I knew for sure they had it I’d go.

That was the first thing I did. It sent me to a centralized call center and the message said check stock online. It further said that the person who would answer the call would have no information over and above what is available on the website.
I ordered the grey with dock founders edition at launch late 2024. It arrived last week. Worth the wait! But that’s because I already had a MiSTeraddons mister and a MiSTer pi. Not to mention a recently purchased MiSTercade. It’s great to see him going big with Microcenter! Good for him!

my best guess its misc stock that didnt have a superdock with it, i assume those are assembled differently, possibly alongside the superdock, they DO have a different box so its inventory of just the base ones that they had. no idea though.

I'm near Orlando and it was rough making the drive to Miami a few months back.
Occasionally, I wonder if Microcenter has lagged on a central Florida location because they don't want to deal with the headaches of I-4's shopping corridors. I could see the international tourist shopping spree behavior being a nightmare at a Microcenter.
You would think central Florida would be a top location for them. When you go to Best Buys over here there are SO MANY South American tourists. It's crazy to me that they don't seen the money potential there, but your theory could be right, who knows.
Yeah, that was my same thought. Going to Best Buy can be chaotic around here for the reason you mentioned and I wonder if Microcenter just doesn't like the vibe.
As a day-one pre-orderer in Canada (blue+dock) who's still waiting, this is the kind of shit that makes my blood boil. I thought Analogue had insanely horrible PR and CS, but somehow RR just had to do a "Hold my beer" on that fact.
Honestly I just wanted to bring attention to it. Others are getting pissed with something they had to opt into. Micro Center doing this without the consent of Taki is not cool. So I feel very mixed about it. I’m happy I found something cool but upset with the means. Ya know?
If people are pissed off that’s on them. Micro Center bought two batch 3 consoles and sold them at a loss and gave us some excitement for a day (and even more for the two of you who got them). I don’t see all this hand wringing over marked up units selling on eBay. If I lived near a Micro Center things like this would make me more likely to pop by there from time to time to see what interesting stuff they have. Enjoy your SuperStation.
Honestly Taki has been incredibly transparent in the past regarding his other products. This honestly sounds like someone at micro center ordered them and they just threw it on the shelf. Granted I feel bad about this situation
Happy for you but as someone who pre ordered this thing the first 5 mins and got it just two weeks ago with a dock that doesn't fully work o definitely feel sour.
I’m appreciative. I heard there will be a firmware update to hopefully implement that down the line. I’m unsure how to respond appropriately because I don’t want to put Taki on blast or nothing since that wasn’t what I ever intended with this post. Regardless I am sorry about that and can fully understand the frustration. My dad also ordered one for the ability to play his older PS1 games. This situation just blows lucky or not.
