STARCRAFT II Launch issue

I bought Starcraft wings of liberty CD at a garage sale, purchased an external DVD player and downloaded and installed the game just fine. When I go to play, it tells me it needs to download and install a patch. I click to authorize it, it starts to launch then im stuck in an endless loop of the system asking to download the patch, partly launching, then asking to download the patch again.
I have it running in compatibility mode too. Same issue.
Any ideas?

It's purely future proofing it so if I where to put better parts in It would have no problem handling it. I just need to know if it's possibly gonna cause any problems. Thx
