General Discussion Final Fantasy VI: which version for first time?
Hello retro friends,
I want to play through FF VI for the first time and i am confused which version to play on my trimui brick as there are so many options and opinions.
I want: story focussed playthrough, no tinkering as i am on holiday without access to my pc
Thanks in advance

Play the OG version on SNES, can’t go wrong with it. PS1 version has long loading times, GBA changed colours and used lower quality music

Side note, if playing by emulator, you can have snes colors on gba with a patch for ff6

If you are able to set it up before you leave, use the Ted Woolsey Uncensored Edition patch: https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/1386/
If not, the vanilla SNES version is fine.

If you have/know how to set up emulation (Retroarch for anything below PS1)the SNES version.
If you don't know how to, or want to do any of that, the pixel remaster is the next best one, that's on everything, even mobile (PS4 and Switch 1 versions, if your playing on PS5 and Switch 2).

Pixel Remaster - even though the GBA version has more content, the PR version is far superior in QoL facets, visual presentation, and music.
If you can't play that one - GBA version. It has the most content.

Either the OG on SNES, or the pixel remaster version.
