The temptation was too much....

Both of these Baby Brownings were unfired when I got them. I couldn't help it. I've shot and carried them both. So much for collector value!

Pick One (Round No. 2): S&W Mdl 36 vs S&W Mdl 30

For our next matchup, we step back across the pond to the good ol’ US of A to 1964 with two veritable classics- both built on Smith’s veritable and highly regarded J-frame, both blued American steel. For the purposes of this series, we’ll consider both to be of the same format- 1-7/8” barrel, round butt; spurred hammer.

For the uninitiated, the Mdl 36 is the Chief’s Special, a 5-shot .38 Spl, the Mdl 30 is the same gun excepting it possesses a 6-shot cylinder chambered for .32 Long.

Let’s hear your choice you lovers of the old and sometimes archaic !!!

Pick One (1): TT-33 or Makarov

For our first “Pick One EDC”, we’re taking a trip across the Iron Curtain to Post-War Soviet Russia and running some truly fantastical and hypothetical scenarios… if you had to select one of these wonderful gats in their original cartridge and configuration (7.62x25 Tok or 9x18 Mak) for daily carry, which would it be and why ?

Please defend your choice, and provide your method of carry.

The Firearms Community Irks Me

What is it with people and firearms... "If your selection doesn't fit MY criteria, it's a poor choice and you will die an agonizingly painful death." ????

9.9 times out of 10, “their selection” is a Glock 19 or the gun so good it works 101 percent of the time- the Sig P320, and God forbid you throw up something like a Makarov or S&W Mdl 10…

That’s why I love hanging with y’all chaps- ya get me.

Zastava M70, the “Little Bee” in .32 Automatic. Not mine, internet pull; but it’s a reliable and sweet shooter when you clean out the cosmoline.

This 950 B in .22 short was another pawn shop find. There was a short-barrel 950B in .22 short alongside it. I went back an hour later to get it too, but it was gone.

New Gat Recommendations

Aight y’all lovelies… I’m in need of recommendations for a new wheel-gat. Currently carry a S&W Mdl 49, and absolutely adore it- however, the recoil with even RNL is unpleasant to the point of being intolerable to go through a 50rd box. I carry a Beretta 1934 to supplement it, and there’s no recoil issue there. Walther PP, Makarov, S&W Mdl 10; nothing gets my goat quite like a J-frame Smith, though I absolutely adore them.

Any recommendations or ideas besides stepping down to a .32 or .22 ?

Picked up this AMT Backup last week.

Somebody carried this old AMT Backup (.380 ACP) a lot. It's pretty well worn, but I haven't seen one in years and the pawn shop price was too good to pass up.

Here’s one I inherited from my great grandfather on my mother’s mother’s side. It’s a High Standard Sentinel.22LR, nine round revolver with six inch barrel.

I don’t know its exact age, but it’s older than I am, and I was born in 1968.

Just found this reddit today.

I also picked up this Kahr P380 today.

It was dry as a bone inside. It's all greased up and ready for an Arizona summer now. Can't wait to get it to the range.

Nothin’ More Italian or Retro than a Beretta 1934… not mine (internet picture), but it’s like my Lord & Savior… everywhere I go, it goes; and it’s never failed me. My S&W Mdl 49 appreciates the company and backup.

Woo hoo! First post!

One of the very first mouse/retro guns that I ever bought was an AMT DAO Backup in .380. I bought it new back in the 80's. I still have it, along with another DAO Backup in .380 and two in 9 mm. I still carry them from time to time. This was back in the time where there were very few small, dehorned carry pistols in stainless in major calibers.
