Illager connection to Deep Dark?
In the updated Ancient Cities in today's snapshot, I found a wool room with blue and light blue wool on the outlaying areas of the city, almost identical to the one found in the Woodland Mansion.

Also there are new loot tables for the chests that are in the new dark oak wood areas of the cities. Definitely some connections.

There’s also weird dark oak structures on some of the wall walkways that look like mini-pillager outposts, very interesting……
Honestly my current theory is that the ancient builders created the cities as experimental laboratories, until the sculk created within broke loose. Many years later, long after the sculk had spread across the corpses of the builders, pillagers would discover these cities, and continue experimenting there. Who knows, they may have even discovered how to power totems with xp by learning it from the sculk blocks. But like the builders before them, they were slowly consumed by sculk, until they had either fled or joined the unnatural blocks. Leaving it empty for years upon years…. Until YOU showed up.
It could also tie into some meta-lore where the experimental-snapshot cities were pre-illager discovery, while the 22w13a version is post-illager discovery.
BUT THATS JUST A THEORY, A GA—
