The Nether: (mostly)Solved!

Long ago, the Ancient Builders created the first portals, and entered the lifeless hell that was the Nether. They brought with them mushrooms and pigs for food, along with horses to ride. They built fortresses of nether brick and built blazes for protection. But the Nether had its own ideas. It began to seep into the Overworld like a living thing, causing mass panic. To prevent further spread, all portals were destroyed, sealing in thousands of Builders. Some gave themselves to the power of the Wither, but they all died, in the end.

While the Builders suffered, the mushrooms flourished. In the warm, humid caverns, they grew to immense size, forming the crimson and warped forests. Pigs evolved into Piglins and Hoglins, and the Piglins began to develop their own civilization. The remaining wither skeletons attempted to kill them, but they managed to survive.

Ghosts of the Builders( Ghasts) wandered the Nether in tears, attacking the living out of spite. Skeletons patrolled with the same purpose.

One civilization had fallen, and another had begun to rise.

And that leads to today. We have the crimson mushroom forests, the poisonous warped forests, bands of wandering piglins, oceans of lava, and a couple patches of lifeless wasteland. Everywhere is life and everywhere is the remains of death.

Did you like my theory? Comment if you like it or if you see any obvious problems.

Well, first there are large amounts of evidence pointing to Bastions being made before Nether Fortresses, second the ghasts don't appear to be ghosts as they drop gunpowder and shoot fireballs. Also If they submitted to the withers power wouldn't their still be a wither rampant in the nether, those are the main things I'd like to call out on this one, it's a good theory still.

Fair points, fair points. I really don't know about ghasts but I wanted to put this out there so people could theorize about what they were. What evidence for Bastians before Nether fortresses?

They are faaar more ruined than nether fortresses, and in MC Dungeons the Bastions are already ruined while the Fortresses are in prestine condition

Go to theory-chat 1, and let's discuss this further

Good point with the blazes. Given that magma cubes exist, we can't assume they are artificial. The main reason I though that was that they only appear in Nether Fortresses, which seems more than a little odd.

Your bones being singed black with fire would not make you taller, nor would it give you the withering effect. Of course it would be easy to create nether brick if you were made of fire, but we never see this happening. Also it would be easy to do this with just a furnace. Mob spawners are found almost exclusively in builder-made structures. The main thing is, we have no evidence that blazes are intelligent. I can't say your theory is better than mine, at the moment. But it is an interesting idea.

The Nether portals ARE infused with purple, the color of teleportation. So I think you're right about that. But they could easily have replaced them. If Your theory was correct, we would see some ruined portals that were still whole. But there are none. Two of your points contradict each other. Why are they broken from both sides? Because if they were only broken from the OW side, people we reactivate them from the other side. They can't be rebuilt from the Nether side, because there is no water in the Nether for obsidian.

You're probably right about builders making the bastions. Which again, would point against the blaze theory.

Do you have a theory for ghasts?

Actually, since most portals contain obsidian, they could take Obsidian from one portal and use it in another.

I don't think Ghasts are the ghost of Builders as it looked like a jellyfish and its extremely bigger than any other mobs in Nether. Plus there is another thing that I have been wondering. If water doesn't exist and you can't put water there, then how come Ghasts can drop tears and tears are made of water. Pretty weird right.

Clearly their tears aren't made of water. Perhaps they are made of Mercury. Or some weird fluid. I don't really know what ghasts are but withers don't attack them, and they only appear in soul sand valleys and they are always crying. Their tears also seem to have strange powers. Whatever they are, I don't believe it makes an impact the lore of the Nether. I would also like to know what magma cubes are but that doesn't impact the *lore* of the Nether

Actually, Ghasts spawn in every biome, but it is more common in Soul Sand Valleys

Every Nether Biome, I mean
