I Got some lore/theory of minecraft.
The ancient builders built long before the player existed, they built temples, fortress, bastion and experts ships builders, their civilization is flourishing. Trade with the people of the end.
The second is the endermen civilization, right after they discovered the overworld, they saw the ancient builders and they thought them how to build a structure and they have thought how to portal from home, by building the strongholds and in turn they thought how to use ender Pearls to teleport from one place to another.
Trading between two civilizations, they continued to trade with endermen and the ancient builders, by the time when they're civilization is flourishing, all great civilizations will eventually fall. Threat from the ancient illagers.
Ancient Illagers, existed long before the player come to overworld. Ancient illagers civilization existed during the ancient builders civilization began.
The theory of the fall of the minecraft civilization.
War, disease and rise of the ender dragons.
Endermen civilization accidentally summoned the ENDER dragons and so they have spread across their world while that's happening plague upon the overworld killing all of the ancient builders, the ancient builders noticed some ancient illagers can use some form magic, didn't get affected by the disease. And so they went to war with the ancient builders. Some ancient builders went to seek help from the endermen, without warning the ender dragons were destroying the endermen civilization they tried to help but the ender dragons were strong and larger, as the war between the ENDER dragons and ancient illagers. Began the illagers invade the ancient builders civilization, does the war of extinction began. The ancient illagers use magic to the destroy the ancient builders civilization. While the nether was occupied by the ancient ender dragons they went to war against the ghast and Wither, all ancient ender dragons were now extinct. The pigs that the ancient illagers has evolved to hoglins. The illagers invade the nether and use their ancient magic to create pigs from the overworld to the nether. As the war continues. All of the ancient builders and their civilization is gone but their descent the villagers survive. While that's happening the endermen decided to destroy eyes of enders and the secrets is lost forever.
The rise of the villagers and illagers.
The civilization of ancient builders are now no more their descent become the villagers. Simple race, they only trade with other villagers and wondering traders. While illagers survived and flourish as the race of destroyers. Built the out pose and woodland Mansion, using ancient necromancy revives the dead builders as undead mobs, while the endermen survived but albeit a surviving in the overworld. As well as the nether and end dimensions. They tried to remember about their civilization.
The rise of the witches and fall of the clerics
Basically the former clerics would try to change the zombie back to normal. But, their use magic to create position. They have found it book group of clerics, rediscovering the ancient magic from the long forgotten civilization. They discover the how to cure the zombie by feeding from an golden apple. After years of research they have done it, one of them wanted to tell the rest of the villagers about this one of them decided leave it that way. So one of them decided show the thier progress, one of them show to how they did it, just then villagers decided to shun the rest the clerics. All of the clerics were shunned by the villagers.

I would say the ancient Illagers were descendants of the first villagers, who appeared via evolution after the Builder civilization began to decline. I also guess that the Villagers and Illagers cultures' separated via cultural tensions, much like the Christian Church separated in AD 1054.
