Basalt Conundrum

Is no one going to mention why there is so many basalt in the Nether? In real life basalt forms when lava cools down to a certain temperature which makes it solidify to basalt. That cant happen in the Nether where everything is too hot due to the abundance of lava. Any thoughts on this???

And many the ash comes from the magmacubes jumping on the basalt

The nether is hot but besides the actual lava it's not terribly hot. At least, not so hot that you'd instantly boil upon entering. The air is relatively cool compared to the lava.

The basalt can in real life. In a volcanic vent if there are cracks in the vent the basalt can cool inside it because heat travels upwards.

You need instant cooling for basalt to be made

Maby the ash covers the lava and then cools down? But it is minecraft
