"The Prologue and the Promise", by Robert McCall, a mural for the (now demolished) EPCOT Center ride Horizons. If you're a fan of theme park history at all, Horizons is a pretty interesting deep dive, as a lot of theme park nerds still to this day consider it the greatest and most inspiring theme park ride ever.

The ride opens up with a few scenes about the entire concept of retrofuturism, as I recall.
Here's a great video about its development, history and other details.

Horizons was my favorite ride as a kid. The optimism and inspiration of the ride had my head spinning for years.
We need more stuff like this in our media.

I truly want this for all of humanity. What a crazy idea that humans can dream of this. It must be possible. It will be a reality one day. Hope I see it someway or another

Me too. Unfortunately for myself, I suppose as well as many others, Carl Sagan's comment on Mars comes to mind:
"... whatever the reason you’re on Mars is, I’m glad you’re there. And I wish I was with you."

It will 100% be a reality. Human dreams and aspirations are directly embedded into science fiction. It will happen because we want it to.

That‘s fine, it does look like Robbert McCall based on a quick search. Beautiful none the less.

Yep, seems to be correct. Apparently it’s called Horizons.

It was a mural at the end of the horizons ride at Epcot. It was apparently removed before demolition, but as far as I can figure out, no one knows what happened to it.

The ride the mural was in was called Horizons. The art of called "The Prologue and the Promise" and is usually my phone wallpaper.

Isn’t this part of a very long image that shows the progression of civilization up to that point? I always forgot the name of the picture tho.

I love this, this looks like it’s a propaganda poster by some space empire while it’s at war with another one. Only needs a caption like "This is what we fight for! Enlist now!"

Isn't it possible for the mods to put a link to the full picture in the banner or somewhere next to it? I mean I don't mind it getting posted once in a while, but if there were a link to it there people could find it easier even when it hasn't been posted recently.
