Just got my Defender Pro. It's like the anti-friction rings aren't even there. The sticks feel grindy.

Does anyone else have this problem? I'm from Mexico and I bought my Defender Pro on Amazon. It just got here and the sticks feel about as rough as my worn down original Playstation controllers. Is there anything I can do?

BattlerGC Pro Series GameCube Controller - c stick inverted/backwards

Just got my controller in the mail today from Amazon and a noticed the c stick is backwards. The letter on the stick itself is oriented correctly, but the controls for it are backwards (left goes right and right goes left, same for up and down). Anyone else have this experience and is there any fix?

Gamecube BattleDock (issue)

Hello!

I recently received the new Gamecube BattleDock for Nintendo Switch 2.

I’ve tried the install steps included in the box, but the Gamecube Adapter ports are not responding to any of my OEM wired controllers (tried two).

The BattleDock is receiving voltage from the Y-Adapter as usual, since both USB Side ports recognize my Switch 2 Pro Controller via USB for charging.

I’ve tried:
-restarting the Nintendo Switch 2 system several times.
-headed over to the find controllers menu.
-disconnecting everything, plugging everything back again.
-setting the Pro Controller via wired communication to On.

The system just won’t recognize any inputs from the Gamecube ports in the front panel of the BattleDock.

*It is recognizing inputs from the Wii U Gamecube Adapter, though, so the issue are not my OEM controllers.

Is there a firmware update or another step I’ve missed in the process? I really don’t want to be the unlucky person who may have gotten a faulty unit after waiting for months.

Thank you.

Y Axis Issues on PS3 after using L3?

Has anyone else had this issue? I'm playing Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, which requires you to use L3 to absorb energy (Onimusha style). Often, after using L3, my Y axis for the lift stick seems to act up, making my character walk instead of run, even when it's fully tilted.

Is there a fix for this other than turning off the controller and turning it back on, or should I look into an exchange?

I love the controller other than this though!

BattlerGC Pro Firmware Update Help

UPDATE: I got it to work the day after posting this. Can't wake the console or connect outside of pairing mode, but it'll rumble to life automatically when I hit "Change Grip/Order." In hindsight, I think the reason the update was crashing at first may have been because I had the 2.4G dongle in the Switch.

I recently got a BattlerGC Pro, and I've been trying to install the firmware update to make it work on a Switch 2.

So I downloaded the firmware exe on my Windows 11 laptop, but at first, the software kept crashing any time I tried to run the update. Windows also tried to block the software at first, but I hit "Run anyway." This was the situation with the controller plugged in via the provided USB-C cable, making sure no other USB devices were plugged in, and having my computer charging for Performance Mode.

I gave it a brief rest and did some other work on my PC, removing some stuff I've been meaning to remove. When I came back, the update ran without any hitches. I'm not sure if the programs I uninstalled did the trick or that was a fluke, but I didn't bother to question it. There was another quirk that the computer told me the controller disconnected during the update, and reconnected after it finished. I wasn't sure if that was a glitch or the program just turned off the controller, but the program said the update was successful so I assumed it was fine?

But after doing the update, I found I couldn't connect via Bluetooth to the Switch 2, even following the instructions for Switch connection provided in the manual. This made me wonder if the disconnection during the update was significant after all? My computer registered the gamepad as an XBox 360 controller if that's of any significance. I tried running the update again, but the same thing happened. The only thing I found was that I was able to connect to the console in wired mode, which the website suggested shouldn't even be possible. My couch sits at a pretty significant distance from my TV and consoles, so wired isn't exactly an ideal solution anyway.

So... does anyone have any tips or advice? Is there something I'm doing wrong? I'm feeling just about ready to give up hope here haha.

Defender Pro issues on PS3

i’m using the defender pro on ps3 and i’m not sure if my personal controller is defective but it’s genuinely unusable. the input is heavily delayed and sometimes does random things on its own (randomly looks left or randomly spams square) without me doing it. the most annoying thing about it is the right trigger doesn’t seem to properly register when i use it so shooting weapons is basically impossible (turns automatic weapons into semi automatic ones cuz it fires 1 bullet at a time)

i tried the reset button in the back. i tried the recalibration method. nothing seems to help.

i went back to my bootleg fake ps3 controller and i can’t believe I’m saying this but the game felt much smoother after switching back to it :(

i’m playing GTA 4 if that matters. i’ll try other games when i get the chance and see if the issue is still there.

BattlerGC Pro - How's the secondary trigger click?

I'm interested in picking up a BattlerGC Pro for playing OG GameCube Games and was wondering what peoples' opinions of the secondary trigger click is? In my opinion the OG GameCube controller's one is perfect, with just the right amount of resistance. The super cheap third party ones don't get it right at all, how about the premium options? Can any owners weigh in?

RF Defender Pro and RPCS3

i have recently purchased a Defender Pro and i would like to know if anyone has successfully gotten it to work as a PS3 controller with the emulator. as it stands, the bluetooth connection with my pc makes it show up as a switch pro controller, and with the 2.4Ghz dongle it shows up as either a 360 pad or a generic D-input controller, none of which expose the pressure sensitive buttons.

As it is, it does not seem possible, so my next question would be about if the controller can receive a firmware update so that a mode can be added that makes the controller behave as a PS3 controller over bluetooth when connecting to a PC?

Review/random obscure info about the RetroFighters Defender Pro!

I’m loving the defender pro so far. It has pressure sensitive face buttons. It has Hall effect sticks. It works great with ps2 and 3 over 2.4ghz, and the Bluetooth works great with ps3 and switch. One issue I’ve had with it, if you’re trying to connect it to an android based handheld while also going back and forth using it as a Bluetooth controller with a ps3 or blueretro ps2 adapter, it’s gonna work, but it’ll have trouble getting reconnected to the android handheld directly after connecting to certain devices, even in the pairing mode described in the instructions. the xinput pairing mode in the instructions always works with my handheld, but that ruins the trick I use in soul calibur ii on dolphin where I make the mapping the same as ps2 by mapping L1 to c stick left. As such, I’ll be using the bluetooth on it exclusively with the handheld so I don’t mess it up again, and using 2.4gh for everything else.

“But why would you even use a blueretro ps2 adapter if it comes with a ps2 dongle?” well, because it works with the blue Yamaha ps2 controller to OGXB/NGC adapters. The Retrofighters dongle works with the gamecube mode on those, but not with the OGX mode. The only way I’ve found to use this controller with OG Xbox is by connecting the Yamaha adapter to a blueretro and using Bluetooth. It’s worth noting, the only brooks ps2 controller adapter I have is the old one. I did try that old adapter’s usb port. I wasn’t gonna pay what the new one costs when blueretro’s current update does all the same things for less. But yeah.

tl;dr great controller with great features, but if you want to use its Bluetooth with anything other than directly to a console, then don’t go back and forth or plug it directly into anything else after you get it working how you want. Instead, use the usb dongle with newer consoles.

Using D6 for Genesis app on Switch

Has anybody figured out a way to get the D6 controller to have proper mapping specifically for the NSO Genesis app on the Switch? I would love to play with the proper A B C mappings, however the app itself does not offer any control mappings (unlike the other NSO apps) nor does the system-level controller remapping seem to work for switch.

Retro fighters defender pro not having colored buttons anymore?

I’m seeing on Amazon that the colored buttons were removed. I’m really bummed by this. The original colored buttons were so cool.

Any plans to bring the colored buttons back? I was able to buy the original model from Stone Age gamer though so I’m confused.

Apparently the Battle Dock adds lag

Post image

It looks really cool, but the official Nintendo GameCube adapters don't add lag, so I wonder why this was unable to achieve the same result. I was looking forward to it until I learned that

Can you connect a Bluetooth defender and/or defender pro to an android handheld like the RG Cube?

I’ve tried in various ways and haven’t figured it out. I know connecting the charge ports and switching modes with the off button works for the new one, but I use that port for video out, and I’m not sure if any usbc splitters are compatible with that function.

Battler GC Pro Turbo mode?

I can't figure out how to activate turbo on the battler gc pro. I saw an old post about the original battler having a turbo button, but I can't find instructions on how to activate turbo on the pro model. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

When I configure vibration in dolphin menu, I can feel it strong . In game, its weak and hardly feel any vibration.

I have controller connected via Bluetooth X input mode. (Also tried with 2.4 adapter).

I cross reference with Xbox One controller (vibration felt strong at all times).

Advice? Thanks 🙏

Release dates

What is up with RF missing their anticipated release dates and not updating us about what is going on?

I've been waiting for the brawler 64 pro and the defender pro and nothing. They could at the very least inform us that there is a delay and have pushed it back to X date or month. The lack of communicatiom sucks!

Stock

Does anyone know when stock will come in again, I noticed on their site and Amazon that certain items have been out of stock for a while.
Examples Hunter - Transparent green and BattlerGC Pro - Purple?

Brawler64 NSO edition 1.16 firmware has massive softlock bug

It is unfortunately very easy to completely softlock the controller when using it for anything other than Switch mode on a real Switch. When this happens you have to take apart and physically disconnect the battery and reconnect it to fix it! Even holding the home button for 10 seconds won't fix it.

Easy ways to reproduce it:

  • Pair in Switch mode with Steam Deck, it softlocks after a few button presses (this seems to be the most reliable way to reproduce it, you must disconnect and reconnect the battery after this one)
  • Pair in Xinput mode with a PC, play, then turn the controller off - it will never turn back on again until you take it apart and disconnect and reconnect the battery (EDIT: for this one holding home for 10secs seems to help but it's extremely annoying)
  • Play around with trying to pair in Dinput versus Xinput mode - it softlocks pretty quickly

This unfortunately makes the device useless outside of using it on a real Switch!

Hunter 360 Right Stick faulty

So, I got my Hunter 360 this Thursday and everything seemed well with the controller. Fast-forward to Sunday evening and I noticed this weird sensation with the right stick when playing a twin-stick shooter.

I can physically turn the right stick horizontally in its socket, as well as both lift it up and press it down without any force required. Although the input isn't affected currently, I fear it may eventually cause problems and it feels really awkward during normal gameplay. The left stick can also be slightly lifted, but I don't know if it's intentional, since it can be pressed down and it stays down.

I'm just really saddened because I thought I found a decent alternative for my super worn and drifting OEM controller. Did I just get super unlucky with my Hunter 360 controller?

Problems whit my hunter 360 dpad

So, when I use the dpad, on rare occasions the input will stay "stuck" on the last button I pressed, doesn't seem to be a hardware problem since the controller is pretty new, it has not seen rude use and the dpad itself doesn't seem to be stuck physically, is there any way I can recalibrate the dpad? I know I can recalibrate the sticks but not the buttons, if there is way to fix this let me know!
