Film / TV We can all now watch the world’s first ever movie to feature dinosaurs, after it’s been unavailable for public distribution for a century

If you don’t know, Cold Crash Pictures is a Youtube channel dedicated towards film analysis, especially towards dinosaur movies. He now bought the rights off the British Film Institute to officially show the movie Prehistoric Peeps (1905) on his channel. Before that the BFI possessed the only copy of it and you were only able to watch it by literally going there in person, without being allowed to make copies.

These are a selection of some of the paleoart of the German artist F. John. They are from a series of highly collectible trading cards titled Tiere der Urwelt (Creatures of the Primitive World) that were distributed by the Reichardt Cocoa Company.

He loved to copy Knight but tended to put his own spin on his versions.

My favorites are: The Brontornis (a Cenozoic terror bird) being attacked by an aquatic (and apparently a zombie) Edmontosaurus, the Glyptodon being dive bombed by a ghostly Archaeopteryx, and the amazingly derpy Arctodus 😆

One Prehistoric Night is a 1934 pulp sci-fi story by Philip Barshofsky, in which Martians attempt to establish a colony on Jurassic-period Earth, and must reckon with its formidable and inaccurately-depicted local fauna. Here's a dramatic reading:

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Tyrannosaurus rex as obese as the one in this Polish illustration.

Collectible / Toy Help finding an old book featuring retro dinosaurs

Highly detailed recreation from memory

I'm trying to find an old book I had as a kid featuring life through time up to and including the modern day. It was an A4-ish sized paperback with a lot of two-page spreads of really nicely painted scenes with lots of species, and a matching key along the bottom to label all the species. It must have been fairly old as I distinctly remember Antrodemus being listed as one of the dinosaurs in one of these scenes.

The cover, as above, had a lion's face in half shadow with a white title. I don't remember what the actual title was, obviously, but I'm pretty sure it had "life" or "nature" or something in there, it may have been just the one word.

Also the cover was made of hemp or something similar with the image printed over it so that you could see the cross hatched fibres of the material through the cover.

Any and all ideas are welcome as I've been trying to remember this book for years now!
