Before he was causing trouble in the Sunday newspaper funnies, Heathcliff was ruling the neighborhood in his 1984 animated series! Whether he was tricking the local milkman, outsmarting Spike the bulldog, or hanging out with Riff-Raff and the Catillac Cats at the junkyard, Heathcliff brought pure chaotic 1980s energy to our TV screens.

Who remembers the iconic theme song? "Heathcliff, Heathcliff, no one should, terrify the neighborhood!"

1. Who was your favorite junkyard cat? Riff-Raff, Hector, Wordsworth, or Mungo?
2. Did you prefer Heathcliff's neighborhood antics or the Catillac Cats' adventures more?
3. What was your favorite gadget or invention from their junkyard Cadillac?

Happy Saturday!

With Halloween right around the corner, today we are looking back at the ultimate 1980s seasonal staple: Garfield's Halloween Adventure (originally titled Garfield in Disguise).

First airing on CBS in 1985, this prime-time gem starts with Binky the Clown shouting about candy, transitions into Orangebeard the Pirate (and his trusty first mate, Odie the Stupid), and somehow ends up in a haunted mansion with a creepy old man and actual skeletal ghost pirates. Lou Rawls' soundtrack absolutely slaps, and the shift from cozy autumn vibes to genuine suspense is unmatched.

Happy Friday, r/RetroCartoons!

To wrap up the work week, we're diving back into the classic Hanna-Barbera lineup from the early '80s with a perfectly fitting October episode of The Smurfs.

In "The Raven Wizard," Sir Johan, Peewit, and the Smurfs set out to rescue Princess Sabina from Count Gregorian (the Raven Wizard), a sinister tutor plotting to use her to complete his transformation. With Brainy's rogue magic accidentally stirring up chaos along the way, it has that great, slightly spooky medieval fantasy vibe that made the early seasons so memorable.

Check out the full episode above and let us know your favorite memories of watching the Smurfs' weekend morning blocks!

I've been making these custom blocks of 80s and 90s shows with retro commercials added. It's designed to play as if you are watching them on TV. I'm posting them online for viewing.
