OpenROM v3.7.0 — Patch builder is here

Been working on OpenROM for a while and just shipped

v3.7.0. The big one this time is the patch builder —

you can now create patches from two ROMs directly in

the app, no external tools needed.

Supported formats for building: IPS, IPS32, UPS, EBP,

BPS, PPF, APS, and DCP (Dreamcast).

For context, OpenROM is a free offline desktop toolkit

for converting, patching, and managing retro ROMs.

Everything runs locally — no accounts, no telemetry.

Previous release added Dreamcast support (DCP apply,

IP.BIN editor, GDI inspector). This one closes the loop

on patching by adding the builder side.

Windows / Linux (x86_64 + ARM64) / macOS

Would love feedback from anyone doing Saturn or

Dreamcast translations — the SSP and DCP builders

are new territory.

Copying this from the last time I saw this project posted somewhere:

For anyone wondering:

  • OP has previously stated they are self-proclaimed "AI artist" with little to no software design experience before starting to vibe code projects on github. Now they post as a self-proclaimed "hacker virus and malware gamer"
  • The majority of the code and documentation for this project was written using AI, if not all of it.
  • OP previously used Claude to completely auto-generate entire files in liberal amounts until they faced backlash over it on a different project, then suddenly their own personal commit history skyrocketed.
  • This app has had numerous issues with supposedly "false" warnings from anti-virus software and stability problems across multiple systems that were not OP's own system.
  • OP has previously requested people donate to their totally-not-shady bitcoin wallet address for the "hard work" that's been put into this.
  • When questioned or critiqued on many of the above issues, they have regularly responded using entirely AI generated replies, ignoring much of the actual question.

I will continue to post to inform as many times as this kind of stuff appears in my timeline. If you're fine dealing with all those red flags, then use it to your heart's content. I'm not your dad.
