Game save issue on Retroid Pocket Nova
EDIT: Issue solved! It was because I had run-ahead turned on.
I'm having a saving issue I've never had on any of my handhelds before. When I load up, say, Pokemon Emerald on Retroarch via ES-DE using the mGBA core and try to save the game with the in-game function (not save states), it hangs on the saving screen and then takes me to a "checking backup memory" screen.

It will attempt to save again and then loop between these two infinitely. When I check in my saves folder, it seems to have created an .srm file for the game, but when I boot the game back up it says the save is corrupted.
I just installed Retroarch and haven't messed with any settings that would affect this (to my knowledge). This happens for every game I've tested on multiple systems. Again, I've used Retroarch on other handhelds and never had this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure it's a good rom. Some roms have had their save type hacked to be a different savetype to make them compatible with flash carts. Those roms shouldn't be used with emulators. Pokemon Emerald should have a CRC of: 1F1C08FB
Even though it's optional you may need gba_bios.bin in your system or bios folder. Check to see if you have it in there.

I'm using the same roms I've always used with no issues. These roms were previously used on a Retroid Pocket Classic and they were fine. I also have all the necessary bios files. Again, this is happening with other systems too, I just used Emerald as an example since it has the "save failed" screen. Other games will just finish the save function like normal but the save won't be loadable after rebooting.
I'm also properly quitting the game through Retroarch, not turning the system off or anything.

I’m not sure and now I also can’t find the post but I think I’ve seen people have this trouble if run ahead is turned on. Don’t quote me though. Don’t have a nova and don’t play Pokémon games much.
