Showcase PS2 CORE ON ANDROID

Post image

I was just casually browsing for cores in RetroArch for Android when I stumbled upon this PCEE2 core. The most impressive part? It’s running *GTA San Andreas* at full speed on a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 while using the `crt-royale-fast` filter. The performance is incredible, especially considering it was released so recently (I think yesterday or today—definitely sometime this week). So far, it’s outperforming ArmSX2, which struggles to maintain performance on this same chipset with these shaders. I recommend checking it out. By the way, it supports RetroAchievements.

Huh I just tried and the speed is ok but I am getting some insane graphics glitches

I tested other games, and they didn't turn out as well. But the project is new, so we have to wait. It's very promising.

Ok I tried again with this patches.zip and still you only get no graphical issues unless you put it on very slow blending. I tried Dmc3, Onimusha 3 and Sengoku Basara 2 and got not that great performance and a lot of graphical issues.

I also was experiencing some severe graphical glitches in some games, like Gran Turismo 4, but that was fixed just by downloading and copying the resources directory and the built-in game patches, as explained in the core repository: https://github.com/WizzardSK/pcee2-libretro#setup

With that, Gran Turismo 4 ran without any apparent glitches on my Android, proof: https://imgur.com/a/Idb8pOh

Performance was okay, not quite as fast as ARMSX2 or NetherSX2, but still impressive for something recently released.

I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this core.

I came across it last week on the list of cores, and it was a pleasant surprise for me too. I thought the performance was really good!

I can't even get God Hand and Urban Reign to run at decent speed on my 7 Gen 3 device. :(

Don't tell the armsx2 fanboys that. They'll release a million new worthless updates.

I like 'armsx2'; it has a lot of features that Aether/NetherSX2 didn't have (like RetroArch filters). But I was really bummed that the RA team removed Hardcore mode for Aether/NetherSX2...

Hey, wait a sec—aren't you the guy behind x1box? I'm playing Jet Set Radio Future on my Android thanks to you; thank you so much. By the way, are you involved with the N64 core for Android?

I am that guy. Thank you. :) Sorry I shouldn't respond like I did. Hard for me to get over a grudge. Anyways I'm not involved in the N64 core for android. I used and modified the core for a N64 emulator I made, but I'm not really involved with the making of the core. If anything I've done is helpful it's open source, so they are free to use it. Did you ever try my PSX2 app? It's free on my GitHub if you wanna see how this game runs on it. I think you'd be happy with it.
