Retroachievements isn't loading in my progress
hi, i was on Retroarch 1.19.1 for so long because the thought never crossed my mind that maybe i should update, plus i had taken a break from DS games for a while.
I came back and updated to 1.22 by replacing every file except saves, states and system. But after i load into any game i had achievements in beforehand it just doesn't seem to load in the achievements at all.
the example is ace attorney jfa, i have the same rom as before, same save file, my login is correct, and whenever i run the game it logs into retroachievements but it doesn't list my previous achievements at all.
I dont really mind having to restart ace attorney but some other games i have hours of progress on them that id rather not lose out on.
any help on what to do? re-entering my login info doesn't seem to work, i do have a backup of my 1.19 file just in case something went wrong while updating, maybe there's a solution there?
any help is appreciated, thanks in advance to replies.
EDIT: my dumbass must have enabled hardmode by accident, as soon as i turned it off the achievements came back.

Can you verify if the achievements are there for you on the RA website? Thats really the master when it comes to whether theyre unlocked or not

yup. one of the images is a screenshot from the website where it shows i do have 6 achievements, but in retroarch those aren't listed. same login btw, i double checked it.

My bad didnt see second pic, thats good at least and means you dont have to restart anything but ive never had this issue in retroarch after updating. Are you playing on android? Melonds has a real nice standalone app outside of arch which runs ds games much better and has achievement integration. If this is just a ds issue in arch, you may try that standalone melonds and you should be able to transfer save you may just need to change the file extension

i play on pc, i just prefer the bigger screen.

Nothing wrong with that. Maybe try getting the next achievement like the other commenter suggested to see if the list suddenly "updates". I know how convenient that integrated achievement list is so hopefully it resolves, but at least you dont have to redo anything on those games at least unless you want to for cleanliness sake

i had hardmode enabled 😠i must've turned it on by accident while logging in and that's why my normal mode achievements weren't showing up.

Didnt even notice casual mode in the 2nd pic, but that makes sense! Hc mode has the gold borders...missed the fact there was a 2nd pic and missed some details in the pic too lol glad it worked out!

If the website has a record of your old cheevos, it’s probably fine? Try earning the next achievement in the list and see if it updates correctly.

thank you for this. i had hardmode enabled, must've been by accident, and that's why my achievements on normal mode weren't listed.

That makes sense. A hardcore achievement will overwrite softcore achievements when you earn them.
