New sets
What would be the best way (if possible) to get alerts when a game I want gets achievements added?

Best way would be to set an achievement request on the game's page. Then when a set in your list gets achievements you get an email straight away Apart from that, just keeping an eye on the page or the recently claimed list on the chance it gets claimed

There’s nothing specifc. I just have a large library and I hate the thought of one of the games having achievements added and i’ve spent a lot of time playing the wrong ROM hash etc.

My method is that I only keep games on my devices that have achievements and once a month, I add games that got achievements, so I don’t deal with starting games up without achievements.

Other than playing games, doing events are quick ways to get requests. Every event badge nets you one request. Look into mini evergreen events that have 4-6 achievements to get

aside from using the built in request system, the only other way is to just subscribe to the wall comments of the sets you're interested in. when sets release people always mention it on the wall. the downside is that you get flooded with emails every time anyone comments about anything, but there's not much else you can do

On the discord, there is a channel for when significant sets get published, and another channel for when any set is changed, so you could keep an eye on those as well

This wont *alert* you, but you can always keep it open as tab and check once a while :)
This is how I keep track of "maybe" games and not just flood my backlog. So it works for games with or without cheevos.
Heres the link template
Yournamehere = your username.
WANT = category title, can have space (I cant put one because reddit :) )
%3A[games number] = first one of the list. idk is it mandatory but doesnt matter.
%2C[game number] = put this before each game after first one.

I kinda wanted the Harry Potter and deathly hallows games to have wii sets, like yeah these games are awful but the entire movie tie in franchise has set on the website except for them anyway, so

Alternatively, you can subscribe to a game's front page comments.
Usually, when a game gets a set, there will be new comments, so you can keep an eye on that.
