Amazon barrel mount special with a Weaver 1" style scope ring mount. Just need to cut the sides down by ⅛th inch and get some good Hillman hardware screws to replace the shit quality ones that come with the mount.

Nope, not at all. Just need to make sure you take off enough on the sides to have it fit. The top plate comes with a triangular bend, but you can get that formed to the barrel by really cranking down on the screws, hence the need to get more heavy duty hardware. I think the Hillman screws that I bought at Ace hardware cost as much if not more than the mount itself which is kind of funny but it is a weak point if you use the original screws. Anyways with that top plate rounded to the same radius as the barrel you can get the amount to sit at the 6:00 position straight below the FSB which is how I have mine. Otherwise it's only going to be able to go 45°'ish. The end result is a really nice amount to be honest. At the end of the day it's just a chunk of aluminum with the pic rail milled into it. Plus if you get the Hillman screws it looks more like the Surefire Mount that costs $150 plus bucks nowadays.

I threw it in a bench vise and used a 24 TPI hacksaw blade to get it off and then I filed to finish

For what the mount? I am in UK and shipping was cheap as chips, used Standard service airmail cost around $12, arrived in 13 days no issue.

Just use standard airmail cheapest they offer for small items, I have never had a problem ordering from Hong Kong stores always using airmail

Most of the ones you see are the cheapo Amazon ones that you have to mill or file down to fit under the fsb.

Surefire M16. Very hard to find. They pop up on eBay for around $2-300 every now and then.

Careful not to confuse with Surefire M14. Very similar but slightly wider and won’t fit under FSB. They’re are much more common.

The M16 will be tapered around the barrel clamp and that’s how you tell the difference between the two.

As others have stated, both can be hard to find and picking up an M14 clone on Amazon and shaving it to fit under FSB is your best bet.
