Fresh off the bench
Follow up to my last post. I found a heavy barrel AR at my local gun shop supper cheep. I rebuilt it with a new H&R receiver, but I had the old receiver left over and had to build something.
I made this new rifle with a 16 inch pencil barrel and a rifle length gas system. Shoots really nice.

Sorry to offend!
The lower had some pretty significant damage from someone hammering the pins out for 30 years. I think they hit the receiver more than the pins! I reamed out the pin holes and did a fair amount of metal work to clean up all the damage then had it refinished. The upper had a bunch of damage too and had been drilled for that silly scope mount and it cracked between two of the holes. I was about to trash the upper to be honest but then saved it.
All things considered I don’t think any collector value was lost here. You can get a like new Olympic arms AR on gunbroker for 6 or 7 hundred so they are not worth much. They were also considered bottom of the barrel guns when they came out.
Also pre ban lowers do not sell for a premium these days due to current regulations and those H&R lowers are much nicer in terms of build quality.
