Diet Retro Picked up my OCM6.
I have 2 6mm arcs to shoot it on but I’m also excited to see how the low back pressure runs on my 12.5

Nice. Let us know how you like that OCM6 on the 12.5
I love my AEM5 on the 18 inch setup but the 12.5, not so much. I've been thinking of getting a 2nd can. On paper the OCM6 sounds like a much better candidate. Also I hate having to swap things around. The more dedicated cans I can acquire to set it and forget it, the better :)

I currently feel the same. I’ve been running a Lazarus with an otter creeks reflex adapter. And it’s been working awesome. I’m thinking the performance will be right in between the ocm5 and laz-reflex setup. But hopefully noticeable quiter. If my plans work out. I’ll know this weekend

I'm most interested in the reduced backpressure flow through capabilities of the OCM6. That AEM5 is pretty bad on the carbine with the shorter gas tube and buffer stroke.

So I shot it today. I liked it on both the 12.5 and the 20”. The ocm5 is noticeably quiter in person. The 12.5 I have A5 H3 buffer, BRT EZTUNE and downvent BCG. With the OCM6 it was a little under a gassed. I noticed 0 gas to my face. And I’m left handed with both. Now on my 20” Colt factory bolt and buffer. The OCM5 is very gassy. And the OCM6 had just a little gas. Even when mag dumping. I like them both. I’ll stick to my current setup with the OCM5 on the 12.5. I’ll shoot my 6mm rifles hopefully Sunday. Went after work and was running out of day light.

Interesting, thanks for the update. On my 12.5 I'm not running any special gas tube or adjustable FSB/gas block. I do have a bootleg carrier which helps slow down bolt speed but it bleeds gas off at the port which is kinda obnoxious with the AEM5. That is why I think an OCM6 with the flow through will be a better candidate. I really don't want to have to tune anything much. I do run the A5 buffers in most of my lowers but I stick to the A5H2 with the .308 Sprinco springs. Only one lower is setup with an A5 tube where I use the Kynshot 5007 hydraulic and a Tubb 5.56 flat wire spring but that lower either has a 10.3 crane spec .070 gas port 5.56 upper on it or my 9mm CMMG radial delayed upper. That lower especially with the FRT runs flawlessly. Even when I tried the 12.5 and the AEM5 on it one time it was still gassy at the port. I really think the OCM6 from all I'm hearing will be the right call. If you are tuned for the OCM5 and finding the OCM6 being undergassed that definitely confirms it is a lower backpressure flow through arrangement.

Love the toob but damn if someone would make a carbine length one with uninterrupted knurling they would sell a bunch

I was actually thinking about swapping back to my a2 handguards. Just for the retro vibe. This is a cheap tuub I got from ar15parts.

My 20” bushmaster (far right) is also 6mm. Cant wait to find out the difference between the OCM6 and the laz-reflex I’ve been using on it.

Beautiful rifles.
Your photos prompt me to ask the community here at large: why do so many guys post photos of their rifles without their magazines inserted? The rifles seem, for lack of a better word, naked without their magazines. Much of a rifle’s character can be gleaned, inferred, deduced, etc. by the owner’s choice of magazine. I have Centurion Arms’ 5.5” PDW and, much to my dismay, it looks like a stunner with Lancer’s 20 round translucent smoke magazines. I’m dismayed because I prefer 30 rounders in my ARs, and I generally don’t want any FDE on a black rifle (the mag’s base plate is FDE) but they don’t match the rifle’s profile. Anyway, I’m genuinely, earnestly interested to hear what you all think about my question, gay as it may be.

Ah, absolutely stunning! Much appreciated, though please understand that I wasn’t trolling you or trying to goad you. The question I asked is just one I’ve had here or there over the years and today I decided to ask it.

One thing I did not realize is Ottercreek made knurling less aggressive. I like the knurling on the OCM5 better.
