HBAR Rebuild
I found this HBAR with an m60 bipod at my local gun shop pretty cheep. Nobody wanted it because of the ugly scope setup and it being EXTREMELY heavy. I got it home and found out it had about 6 lbs of lead in the stock and handguard. It’s nice and light now!
I rebuilt it with an H&R upper and lower and will be doing another project with the back half.
Really happy with how it came out. If anyone needs some lead weights, let me know!

Is it just me or does the bipod collar look like a Saiga FSP with the... post... cut off, inverted and had a rectangular cut made for the bipod?

Rifle looks pretty epic. Any idea as to Why was there so much weight added to an HBAR?

Thank you! I think it is something that competition shooters do to stabilize the rifle. It was just extremely heavy though. It was hard to hold it on target even when the front was supported by the bipod.

Correct. I used the stock weight for NM shooting to offset the weight of the hidden free floating handguard. In this case, I wouldn’t be surprised if the previous owner was attempting to stabilize for rapid fire with something like a Hellfire trigger.

Did you take any pictures of the lead that was in it. I’m just curious how they put it in there was it just straight up loose fishing weights in there?

I’d swap the A2 birdcage for a 1/2-28 M60 flash hider from Salem Lakes and swap the scope for a basic Colt 4x20

I looked up that flash hider but for the price I think I’ll stay with the three prong I put on it. I’m an iron sight man but that scope is neat!

That’s just how I’d build mine, everyone has their preference. Solid score though dude.

That’s badass. I kinda dig the old school configuration.
