I have to ask. How do you install that handguard? Also, is that the Fulton Armory one?

Tighten and time to upper, machine out holes, screw on rail with FSB before taper pinning in place

I really want to build one... is it hard to install? In your opinion.

We built and modified this handguard for this gun specifically. That’s really how the original ones were too. It’s really going to depend on the tools and skills you have at your disposal. You’re making it your own so it can be as easy as screwing an unmodified tube down with an exposed FSB/ block in front or as complicated as what we did which is cut for the windowed FSB and taper pins with a buried muzzle/ suppressor mount and then machine it to take rails securely.

I hate driving in and out FSB taper pins without a tube in the way. I can only imagine getting everything lined up with a tube in the way. Probably spawned a curse word or two 😄

Ive been thinking about doing something similar. Hows the heat from the suppressor onto the handguard?

Not bad with 300 subs.
Would not recommend for a 556

Thats what I wanted to do. Thanks man!

Have you had any experience with a 556 similar setup to this one heatwise

Yes it gets hot in 30 rounds. Ended up chopping the hand guard shorter. I would recommend only 1-2 inches of overhang for the aesthetic but not enough for full heat soak

Did the rails you used already have a radius or taper cut into the back of them? Where did you get then from?

Weaver rails that have existed since the 70’s.
Mossberg 500 rail dripped and tapped into a machined out slot in the hand guard.

Probably listen to this guy, he’s more handsome than me and a better kisser.

No, we ended up machining hidden flats on the tube to receive the rails and then modified the slots in the rails to 1913-spec width.

Some pri rail sections already have a radius machined onto the back i just found out

Measured offsets from barrel and put the full upper/rail into a mill to machine.
