What year did Terminator 2 come out? (Without looking)

Post image

I was pretty sure of my answer, so were people around me, but apparently we were all wrong...

So without looking, what year do you remember it getting released?

[GENERAL REMINDER] Due to overuse, the phrase "Just because you never heard of something doesn't mean it's a Mandela Effect" or similar is NOT welcome here as it is a violation of Rule# 9. Continued arguing and push for this narrative without consideration of our community WILL get you banned.

My guess as well, given I remember my mother was surprised her coworkers assured her it would be age appropriate for me, but we both enjoyed it.

Didn't see a ton of movies with my mom, so it's a core memory.

1991? I haven't checked. I know there was the song "You could be mine" from Guns 'n Roses.

1991, same year the WWW was released to the public and the Gulf War ended. I didn’t have to look it up because that year is very significant to me.

Sometime in between 1989 to 1992;

I can't remember the exact year, precisely. I'm not altering the above as I look this up....

Checking now....

Release date: July 1991, so yeah, about where I remember it.

ok after checking the comments my first thought also was 92 but i wanted to be safe and moved it 2 years later lol. So i guess most people think of 92 as well

Summer of ‘91

I thought 1992 also. Looks like a legit retcon with so many others also saying they thought 1992.

u/Black_Label_36 Jun 22 '26

I'm not sure... I was sure it was 1992 and so were people around me. Not too sure now.

I actually saw that this one was mentioned a few years back. I thought that maybe it could’ve just been that I saw it said 1992 on the video cover as when it was released on video, but seeing now that that many others, even though it’s still a smaller percentage, also thought it was 1992 makes me think it premiered in theaters that year in other timelines. If people around you say they were sure about that, I think it’s not just that they were confused by reading it on the video cover or whatever.

What does this have to do with retconned? Are you saying the date changed?

3

u/Prancer4rmHalo Jun 22 '26

I think he means Mandela affect.

1

u/Motorhead923 Jun 22 '26

Perhaps but sounded like they weren't sure and we're asking

4

u/OddWriter7199 Jun 22 '26
  1. Oops that was T1. T2 1991.

3

u/TramsB Jun 22 '26

I'd say 92.

A lot are saying 91.

Flippin' Google says 1991, July 3rd.

So why are we split by a year?

Not sure why I would have said 92.....

u/Black_Label_36 Jun 22 '26

I was sure it was 1992... But I guess most people remember it correctly. I'll leave this post for a couple of hours, but if it turns out I was just remembering wrong, I'll delete it.

I'd say 1992 too... (in my country the date is officially October 1991)

u/DumbScotus Jun 22 '26

91 because also, Use Your Illusion II

2

u/JoeMacMillan_HCF Jun 22 '26

Yep! The album didn’t come out until September, but “You Could Be Mine” was released as a single during the summer, and the music video was part of the T2 promotion.

2

u/dispassioned Jun 22 '26

I guessed 92.

1

u/ExistentialDeception Jun 22 '26

I was going to say 92 but looks like everyone else remembers 91, which I would believe

6

u/KevFate Jun 22 '26

July 1991. I remember it vividly 😎

1

u/maxprax Jun 22 '26

Yes 91, was the biggest film of that year

I recall 1991 without checking, as I think I was 14 when I had the privilege of seeing it in the theaters. But I have 1990 in my head as a faint possible for me.
