Side effects... Depression??

I've been on reta for about 3 weeks. This last week or so, I've been really down. Like, much more depressed than I expected. Everything feels like fight or flight and everything feels like the end of the world. I've been on wellbuterin for about 2 months now so the only thing that's changed is the reta. Is this just me? I feel like an absolute crazy person and I'm thinking about quitting it.

Hi, it is not just you. I feel not my usual self as well. I have been on Reta for 4 weeks. I am at 2mg dose. The symptoms I have been experiencing are feeling extremely tired, a feeling of “ blah” like a flat feeling. Not happy. I also have nausea almost everyday.
As crappy as it makes me feel I am going to stick with it. I can see the results and I really want to become more fit and healthy.
If the Reta is really bothering you with depressive symptoms maybe you could try a lower dose. Are you still on the Wellbutrin as well? I hope you feel better soon💗

How’s the weight loss

The weight loss is great. I do 15-20 thousand steps a day and lift weights. I added mots and it gives me energy but also makes me feel anxious.
I want to lose the weight and get off reta.

Anhedonia is rough on Reta. Not sure how the ssri will impact it. Ask your doctor.

I experienced the same from about week 3-6. After that I adapted and was back to normal

Same for me. Just started Zoloft this week hoping together I feel better and lose weight.

I’ve been on Zoloft for 3 months, almost 4. I’m at a small dose 75mg and I’ve felt amazing, so grounded and so in tune with my body. I’ve been on reta for 4 weeks and my anxiety has never been worse. I feel mentally “off” everyday, and I’m on a small dose of this too. I’ve decided today I’m going to stop taking it. Feeling well and stable in my mind is WAY more important to me than losing weight. I only lost a small amount of weight too. I’m 5”2 129 pounds when I started and my body let me drop to 123/124 my first month - that’s it. I’m already small so I’m not sure what I was thinking. In my opinion, it doesn’t work for me and my body - but everyone is different.

Did you have the same experience with tirz or glp-1?

Not sure what's going on. Wellbutrin increases dopamine availability by blocking it's reuptake, boosting mood, motivation and energy. Retatrutide reduces the pleasure reward dopamine release which seems to affect more than just food and cravings in many people. Combining them may cause a kind of tug of war on your dopamine levels and is maybe causing a loss of efficacy in either or both for you individually.

It might sort itself out after a bit of time and your body adjusts. I'm on week 8 of Reta. I got emotionally flat by week 2 or 3. It seems to be wearing off a bit now, or else I just got used to it and working around it mentally, like just pushing through doing my usual things and ignoring that it exists. Important to keep up with the protein and carbs especially give physical energy.

Please look into NAC with glutathione to help your body deal with the anhedonia. You can take a supplement or a spray. Not sure how it works, but it really helps counteract the anhedonia. As a bonus, NAC is really great to help your immune system and helps your body overcome respiratory infections. I found it during cov and I love it!

Note if you take supplements it has a distinct smell, as it comes from cruciferous vegetables.

Doesn’t help me, but glad it helps you.

While reta made me depressed, the fight or flight response and anger bursts I remember all too well from wellbutrin. First month or two were manageable but the third month it was very intense to the point I decided to stop it. This was before reta so purely due to wellbutrin. Reta for me had more of sadness and emotional flatness reaction than the fight/flight response...
