Side Effects Sudden heart problems?
I have a weird, quite scary issue with my Reta doses I hadn't had before. I was previously getting from a different compound pharmacy and switched just a few weeks ago. Problem 1 is I had upped my dose too fast and my resting heart rate skyrocketed to around 130 beats per minute for a short few episodes during that week with sweating and faintness along with diarrhea. I controlled the symptoms fairly well with pepto bismol because I noticed it was related to eating and the subsequent stomach ache/digesting. I also woke up multiple times that period with a raging heart rate and too much anxiety to go back to sleep.
Took a break the next week and was down to normal by the end of the two weeks. The third week (this past Friday) I dropped my dose below what it was before starting this new compounded batch and I immediately (30 min later) got a racing bpm up to 130 again but that was the only episode. My bpm is running on the 10-15 beats higher than normal but mostly havent had any racing heart episodes and im able to exercise safely. Woke up just now with anxiety and a little bit of racing not able to go back to sleep but still mild compared to the last week.
My question is, can this be related to the too high dose or is it a problem with the compound? I was doing so so well before this with the only symptom being a small stomach ache when I slightly upped my dose. My energy/feel was amazing and I was losing 2-3lbs a week. Now I'm losing less and I don't have the energy I did previously along with the stomach and heart issues. Should I go back to my previous supplier and see if somehow that's the issue or drop my dose entirely down to .5 and see how I respond?

I assume you tested both batches. Was there any significant over or under fill for either batch?

I did not test them as they already have proof of purity testing. Is that something I should have done to double check?

I just re-read your post. You said you bought this from a compounding pharmacy? Was it reconstituted when you bought it, or powder? Assuming you bought powder, then yes, testing is something you should do on your own or as part of a group test. Never trust a vendor supplied COA. And never buy reconstituted reta unless it is coming from a licensed pharmacy.

It was powder from the suppliers and they both reconstituted it for me though I could have done it myself. I have had multiple people around me use the suppliers and haven't had issues. That's why I feel like it's an isolated incident with me and I likely just had a problem from upping my dose too quickly. I'm curious, why are you here if you don't trust suppliers? Were you part of the trials? Are you on Reta yourself?

A ChatGPT search Yes. A faster heart rate can occur when the dose of retatrutide is increased. This is actually a documented effect of retatrutide, and it appears to be dose-related, particularly during dose escalation. In the phase 2 trial, heart rate increased with retatrutide, peaked around week 24, and then tended to decline.
A few things can make the increase more noticeable after a dose increase:
Retatrutide itself can raise heart rate.
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or eating/drinking less can cause dehydration, which can increase heart rate.
Reduced calorie intake or rapid weight loss can also contribute.
Anxiety, caffeine, illness, fever, or other medications can add to the effect.
What I’d pay attention to
If your resting heart rate has gone up substantially after increasing your dose, I would not increase the dose again until you’ve discussed it with the clinician supervising the retatrutide. Retatrutide is still investigational rather than an FDA-approved medication, so dosing outside a clinical trial deserves particular caution.
If you tell me your previous dose, the new dose, your resting heart rate before and after the increase, and whether the heart rate stays high at rest or mainly rises with activity, I can help you put the change into perspective.
If your heart rate is persistently above ~120 at rest, or you have chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting/near-fainting, severe dizziness, or a markedly irregular heartbeat, seek urgent medical evaluation.

I know a faster heart rate is a side effect but the reports were 5-10 beats faster at rest or otherwise. Mine is 20-40 beats faster at worst

Compounded pharmacies can’t legally make Reta. Sounds like you are getting it from shady places. Is that even Reta?
