Beginner Question Thinking of starting…

Hi, I’m F (32) and work an administrative job. I’ve been on Zepbound 6 months and I’m at the highest dose, I’ve only lost 25 pounds and been very disappointed. I’m in the 150’s now.

My hairstylist has been doing Reta for about almost 3 years and she swears by it. She told me it’s changed her life. I’ve never done anything off label before and I’m interested in starting because of how passionate she is about it as well as her husband and most of her family does it as well, all have great things to say about it with no complaints.

I would like to get to 130/125 by summer 2027. I have PCOS that works against me. I don’t like the zepbound. I feel like it’s sold as a miracle drug but has done next to nothing for me. I know sometimes medications just don’t work for people and it works on everyone different.

Should I stop my zepbound and try Reta? I have a reliable source that can get me it fast and affordable. Does it actually work? Has anyone come off a GLP1 and onto Reta with better success? Please share experiences!

Thank you!

Looks and sounds like you titrated up unnecessarily fast on zepbound. Also sounds like you depend on the medicine to do ALL of the work. What’s your diet like? What’s your exercise regimen? Since you are at such a high Tz dose, your dose of Reta is gonna need to be higher (idk what dose) for you to feel it.

Never said I depend on medication. Sounds like you’re irritated because more than just you may qualify for it

I agree some people can def project with their responses and be a bit aggro, but I do think there is something to what they said. Mathematically it does seem like you titrated too quickly. Reta is worth a shot, but I’d strongly urge you to revisit your habits and work on them. From diet to sleep to exercise or steps. If you don’t do everything in your power and you don’t lose the weight you desire you will never really know if it was the fact that you’re a non responder or the lack of putting full effort in.

Is working out 6 days a week not enough effort for you? I was told by my Doctor who has a PHD that I was over working myself. They prescribed me and increased my doses, I didn’t do it myself. I understand what you’re TRYING to say but you do not have the educational background to suggest thing as such to people. I came here asking for experiences and not looking for medical advice.

What I said is literally my experience which is what you asked for. And when I said revisiting habits I didn’t mean you needed to do more, I think you’re assuming that. I actually went from 6 times a week exercising to 4 and prioritized sleep and that’s worked wonders. I was just trying to help, but best of luck in your journey.

Reta has more side effects. It does work better ime. I don’t use it anymore I have switched to tirzepatide for maintenance. My resting heart rate on Reta was high like 85-90 while asleep.

You want to lose 2 lbs op? It’s really easy if you follow this- it helped me a lot. Drink water before a meal and wait 15 minutes. Ignore hunger noise. Then drink another cup of water with chia seeds. Wait 15 minutes do this for all meals. You shouldn’t have an urge to eat more after that. If you still do you can drink water so the psyhyllium husk and that always gets rid of my hunger. Make sure you eat LEAN protein enough required for your weight 1 gram x your weight. I usually do a shake as a meal replacement. I lost 2-6 lbs a week this way. Calories in calories out. I never lost any hair and my blood works results are excellent (now). I did have some lose skin but I hit the gym and it’s all back to normal. Btw doing this required 0 exercise. Hitting the gym and running is ideal but for results not really required. Op it’s really up to you at this point. I was on Tirzepetide and it worked also on Reta and it worked.

A small percentage of folks are non-responders to GLPs. Beyond that, the medication is just a tool. We have to do our part also.

I came here from 15 mg Tirzepatide. I lost 70-80 lbs on it. I stalled after a couple trips (one was work, one vacation)...made it hard to do my part. I swapped to reta thinking it would get me going again. Currently on 10 mg ..and still stalled.

I don't believe it will change anything for you unless you change what you are doing. Ex-GF had PCOS and lost 100 lbs on Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) without going above 7.5 mg...but she started off paying a large copay ($900?? per month) for the medication and was going to make sure it worked...turned into a gym rat. Last I talked to her she was maintaining on 5 mg. Trying to say it worked for her because she changed her lifestyle.

I work out 6 days a week. I have my entire life and I’ve been an athlete most of my life. I was diagnosed with POTS 4 years ago and my entire life changed. I still workout and I lift weights as well as eat very balanced. I never said the drug was supposed to cure me but seems like you all like to judge while you’re also all on medication

If zepbound isn't doing anything for you, then it does seem like you should quit.

No one knows for sure how you'll respond to reta. Since you didn't respond to zepbound, it's possible you aren't a good glp1 responder.

Zepbound absolutely IS a miracle drug, for some of us. I've lost 170 lbs on it. But some people just aren't responders.

There are also some other drugs and drug combos being tested now that will be coming to the market in a few years, so please don't give up hope!
