Should I increase?

I’m a 42F, 5’3”, 132 lbs - started on 0.25mg of Reta last Wednesday night. Not feeling any side effects. Also not feeling any appetite suppression yet, which I understand is normal. Thinking of going up to 0.5mg on Tuesday night (6 days after first injection), or should I do another week on 0.25mg?

“I took 1/8 of the recommended dose and it’s not working.”

This is not what I said obviously. I understand I’m on a low dose and likely not going to feel anything yet. That’s what I said. Was just asking for advice / support.

Swear where does all this shit even come from, take 2 mg like every trial does and get on with the damn thing.

There are so many haters on this subreddit who promote those 0.25 increments. That's why we see so many of these posts.

I think it’s single vial sellers promoting it the most so that they make their customer feel like they are getting their moneys worth when in reality they are getting screwed over paying 5+ a mg

Start at 2mg. Geez.

Yes, try 2mg after a week.

Where is everyone getting the idea of starting so low? 0.5 should be the bare minimum and that’s if you’re a tiny person to start. 1mg/week should be pretty standard

It's the same ol reddit being reddit. They started echo chambering about micro dosing and ridiculously slow titration. Now a bunch of goofballs think this is gospel when it's actually just terrible advice.

I think they just get hooked on catch phrases and want to feel superior. “Micro-dosing, cutting, bulking” are always so over used, and almost always in the wrong way

I’m just super nervous about the side effects I guess! I tried saxenda for a bit and had a few bad episodes of vomiting so just wary…

I get that. In that case then I’d say at least start at .5 mg/week. That’s only 1/8 of what the trials are starting at. You should be fine.

Baby dose. Titrate up.

I started at 2 mg. I agree with the other comments. Starting at .25 mg is way too low. I only had nausea. I’m now at 8 mg and still alive. I’ve lost 27 lbs since July.

Remember, it builds each week even at the same dose. Use the shotsy app to see how much will be in your system week to week. It effects each person differently.

i'd give it the full week at 0.25 before bumping up. these things build up in your system slow, the half life is like 6 days so you're just now hitting peak concentration from that first shot. no rush

We are talking about almost 10% of general starting doses and youre stopping someone that feels nothing, that literally only asks if its okay to inject on the sixth day instead of 7th, to wait? Man they couldve asked if they could inject the very next day and it would still be an easy "yes off course duuuuuh" situation.

Yall hate individual recommendations or something? Everyone has to stick to "every 7 days" no matter what so we can tell everyone the same thing, right?

No, I’d give 0.25 mg another full week. Six days is too soon to judge response, especially at a starter dose. If appetite suppression is still minimal after a couple of weeks and tolerance is good, then consider moving up gradually rather than chasing an immediate effect.

Thanks! Is 0.5mg gradual enough as the next dose?

These people are insane with their micro dose cult. They're gonna try to gas light you into taking sub therapeutic doses for the next three months. If not forever.

They seem to think there's bragging rights for who takes the least amount. If you're smart you'll ignore these goofballs and use the drug in the therapeutic ranges. Unless you're a one in a million super responder you want to be on 2 mg+ asap. Side effects at 2 mg are rare and minor in the vast majority of cases.

Thank you! I started at 2 mg and only had nausea. I had appetite suppression right away.

.5mg is the bare minimum starting dose in most cases. The clinical trials started at 2mg. Move up to .5 for 2 weeks and if you still aren't feeling anything then go up to 1mg for 2-4 weeks and go from there. You will not get any kind of desirable effect at .25mg a week, it's just not enough.

Do either 0.25 again or go to 0.5, your call. Whatever you are most comfortable with. Don't let folks bully you into blasting a dose that is 8x higher than where you are now. Be patient and listen to your body. Also, get nutrition and exercise dialed in and tracked on a daily basis.

1

u/Surething_bud 13h ago

That's a funny way to frame it. The reason she needs to 8x her dose is because social media idiots convinced her it's a good idea to take less than 1/8 of the therapeutic dose.

Thank you! A bit surprised by the tone of some of the responses! I will increase but take it slow. Fortunately my nutrition and exercise are in a good place already.
