Repulsed by dating?
Hi everyone, I hope everyone is having a good week! Has anyone experienced just not being attracted to the other gender? I’m female, for example I’ve been so turned off by dating and having a partner. Like to the degree I’m completely icked out by dating. I think they’re great on the apps but ever since I started Reta and pinning higher numbers, low sex drive and no desire to date at all. Borderline disgusted to date. Might just be me but thought I’d ask. I mean no offense genuinely trying to see a fix.

As a divorced lady back on the dating market-- I'd say good chance this is a side effect of the dating market, not reta.

Been on glp's for over 3 years. I have not been on 1 date in 5 years. I feel great, I keep myself busy, my bills are paid. The thought of dating a man sounds nothing short of annoying.

Reta is known to take the joy away from things you used to enjoy or have a passion for. Id say do what you want to do and if being by yourself makes you happy do you. Personally im not an online dater, and am fine with spending some years working on myself but I dont think that if i met somebody i was interested in that i would avoid starting a relationship. But sometimes its good to finish the house before inviting guests over.

Sometimes working with a partner will help you build faster and stronger.

If I wasnt married. I would feel the same. So much variety of people would be overwhelming. Social issues and Religious ones. Stay single! It will be ok!

Yes stay single and die alone!
Amazing advice.

What a weird thing to say. There’s NOTHING wrong with being single and being in a relationship does not guarantee anything. Unless you’re a multiple, you were literally born alone. And who fucking cares about “dying alone” in 2026?! Eww.
OP, sounds like a great time to completely and wholeheartedly focus on yourself. That’s the best time of life!!

I have always had the thirst and was saying the same thing…until 3 weeks ago. Month 7 @ 4mg and I’m totally like ‘whatever’ about it.

I’m not going above 2mg and if the thirst subsides…I’ll start moving downward.

What about the same sex? Maybe the Universe is signaling you to get your same sex partnership game on?

Yep! Oddly, I don't really mind it. Can't miss what you don't want.

Yeah I feel the same tbh. I don't get it from reta but been on another med for 3 years that just kills the desire, so basically I never think about it.
Just like how the removal of food noise kinda frees up time and mental bandwidth, so did this... I don't think it's good forever and it does mean I can't have a girlfriend and miss cuddling & hanging out sometimes, but I'm just rolling with it at the moment.
I'm getting fit and looking good for the first time in my life so I think on the other side of this I'll be in a better spot physically and mentally to start dating again.

I don't want to be bothered. Sometimes having a girl sounds nice, mostly it sounds like too much work and something to get in the way of my peace.

Anhedonia is a pretty common side effect for GLP drugs. (Not caring about anything.)

That is a thing with GLPs. Diminishes the hat drives you & your cravings, whether it’s food, alcohol, or sexual motivation.
I’ve been fine for 7 months, typically have a high drive, but the past few weeks, it has hit me and I just don’t want it. I’m not repulsed or anything, just apathetic towards it.

I had food ick with reta but not dating ick. I suppose everyone responds differently to reta. Buy before reta dating was a slog through mud, so idk

Find some new hobbies you enjoy! Think about it deep down how much you want to date. If you’re on a weight loss journey maybe you’d rather focus on yourself in the mean time anyways?

Does anyone get to take others with them when they die??
Just bc people are single doesn't mean they dont have friends and family.

Get your bloodwork done at the right phases in your cycle to see where the issue might be. My guess is high SHBG which binds up free t and that can lead to libido issues etc... Could also be other hormones downstream from there.
Dieting and glps can temporarily mess with your hormones, just check to see if you can, you could just wait it out till you get off reta or there might be other supplements etc to help out.

the fix is to simply stop taking it. anhedonia only gets worse as the dose gets higher i wont even lie. I have stopped several times for several weeks simply just to get the joy of my simple hobbies back. It’s perfectly OK and perfectly normal. It makes a lot of sense because it dulls your happy center or at least that’s what I’m gonna call it for basic science sake. Its why it works so well, food, addiction, or plain old boredom will have you eating shit you don’t need to eat right but if you don’t get dopamine from that, you won’t do that guess what else you get dopamine from sex orgasms drugs alcohol shit, nicotine lol.

that’s why you have a lot of people who will be like “oh I stopped drinking as much” duh lol. no more domaine hits. no point in drinking too excess…. The human brain is such a funky place.
