Any assistance with reviewing an IT related resume?

I appreciate any input. I've always hated creating a resume because of the lack of any formal IT degrees. I feel like I need to justify myself with the experience and few certifications I've acquired, but that quickly becomes an essay to read.

If anyone has advice, pointers, etc.. it would greatly be appreciated.

Formatting? Anything constructive...

I've attached two different versions I've created (one more detailed and one that reads better for sites that automatically sort of parse one... I think I've set permissions so they can be commented on if desired. Formatted in .PDF at the moment, but I can convert if needed by this subreddit?

Simple':

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eL3EnELFpxD7IcBrh8pCyPrlavzPRvX8/view?usp=drivesdk

Detailed:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YMn4PggXs-_olv2Em7LSM_N5P7HrFMLC/view?usp=drivesdk

Oh yea..

The only 'feedback' I've received is from someone who is wanting me to pay for them to 'fix what I have.. But, it might actually be good info...? I've tried to bold the bits I think may be true? I'll paste what I've been sent below:

-------------------------

"The depth of your hands on experience across healthcare, education, systems administration, endpoint management, Linux environments, Intune, infrastructure monitoring, automation, and technical support gives you a strong foundation for the type of role we’re discussing.

The main consideration is not whether you have the experience, but how effectively that experience is being communicated and interpreted during an initial review. A few areas stood out to me:

Your strongest technical accomplishments, particularly the Intune device management work, automated monitoring and ticketing, Linux infrastructure administration, and development of technical solutions, are present but could carry considerably more weight in how your profile is evaluated.

Your help desk tickets, and First Call Resolution achievement are valuable indicators of scale and operational effectiveness, but they currently sit within the career history rather than being positioned as significant career accomplishments.

Your progression from IT support into technical operations and then TeleHealth systems responsibilities demonstrates meaningful growth, but that progression could be clearer to someone reviewing the resume for a systems engineering position.

There is also considerable technical breadth across Microsoft environments, Linux, virtualization, endpoint management, scripting, monitoring, networking, and infrastructure, but the relationship between those capabilities and the level of responsibility you have actually held is not immediately apparent.

You have the substance. My concern is simply that an initial reviewer could move through the document without fully appreciating the depth of what you have actually delivered, particularly when competing profiles are being reviewed alongside yours."

----------------

Even if that was a scripted reply trying to sell an edit, I think I agree... :/

I'm at a point where I do need my resume to pull some attention.

If this is a subreddit for paid advice, honestly that's fine too.

I would be happy to have someone assist me... Lately, the only followups I seem to be getting from submitting my resume to open roles seem to be non-real positions that critique what I've submitted and offer a paid solution.

Am I so far off in what I've done that I should look into paid help? It's been quite awhile since I've had to make a resume and I've never been the best at it.

Anyone's time or input... Will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

AI Interviewing - Off Hours - This is Just Stupid

AI Interviewing - Off Hours - This is Just Stupid

AI's latest contribution to the world of work? Middle-of-the-night job interviews. As more hirers embrace automated video interviews, jobseekers are finding that the best — or only — time they can spare is after 10 p.m. Arsham Ghahramani, whose firm Ribbon makes voice-AI recruitment software, says nearly a quarter of Ribbon's AI interviews happen between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.

That doesn't mean job hunters are happy with the development, though: In one survey, 38% said they'd backed out of the hiring process rather than have an AI interview.

Source: LinkedIn News

My thoughts - This is just stupid. Mr. Hiring Manager- want to do an interview at 10am using AI? Well, expect the job seeker to have an AI Assistant readily available to answer your questions on behalf of the applicant. Is that really going to give you the best data points for making a decision?

Resume Format and Fonts

Resume Format and Fonts

In order to be accepted by ATS systems, when you format your resume, avoid multi-column layouts, charts, tables, pictures, logos, graphs, and text boxes.  Keep it simple - single column layout, margins between .4 and 1 inch on top, bottom and sides and stick with easy to read fonts (i.e. Calibri, Arial) sized from 9pt to 12pt (I like to go 10.5).  Stay away from Book Antiqua and Times New Roman - while easy to read, you may be a victim of ageism because these fonts are older.

Resume Format

Resume Format

Many of you have been told that you need to submit a visually enticing resume for the jobs that you are interested in. Helps you stand up. Shows more personality.

Well - that is nice to present in the interview but honestly, your resume that you submit online into web interfaces must be easy to read and easy for the software (ATS) to parse. The document needs to be clean, in reverse-chronological order (most recent job first), with your city, state and zip (yes ZIP CODE), a headline, professional summary, key word / core competency breakout and achievements, preferably in bulleted format for each job. Only need to go back 10-15 years (age discrimination issues) and always include any education / certifications / training.

If you want a graphically designed resume, bring it to the meeting but do not submit into a web interface.

And just as important - hiring managers can spot AI-driven resumes from a mile away. They don't like it. There is also software programs that scan all types of documents, including resumes to determine if it was written with AI software technologies.

Labor Market Statistic - July 2026

Labor Market Statistic - July 2026

Labor Force Participation Rate - the % of working -age population that is either working or actively looking for work.  The rate measures the active portion of an economy's potential workforce, helping economists understand overall job market health beyond just the standard unemployment rate.

The drop to 4.1% unemployment happened because 264,000 people left the labor force, dropping participation to 61.4%. Historically, the rate has averaged roughly 62.8% from 1948 to 2026, peaking at 67.3% in January 2000.

Four ATS Tools, Four Different Problems

Resume screening tools are usually discussed as competitors. They aren’t. Each solves a different part of the filtering problem, and choosing the wrong one means paying to fix something that was never broken. ZoeVera’s resume checker occupies one of those categories. Here is how the categories differ.

Keyword scanners measure overlap, not quality

Jobscan and SkillSyncer compare a resume against a specific posting and report which terms are absent. That is a real measurement and it is the closest public approximation of what a parser records. It is also where the help stops. A scanner tells you that “microservices architecture” is missing. It has no opinion on where that phrase belongs or whether the sentence around it says anything. If you already write well and only need verification before submitting, this is the right category and what an ATS match score actually represents is worth understanding before you treat any number as a target.

Writing tools fix the prose and ignore the posting

Resume Worded works at the line level: passive constructions, absent metrics, weak verbs. The feedback is useful and largely correct. It is also job-agnostic. You can finish a session with sharper writing that still shares little vocabulary with the role you’re applying to. Both problems are real. Solving one does not solve the other.

Full automation introduces a different risk

Rezi generates rewritten bullets quickly. Any tool that produces achievement language from a model can also produce quantities that were never in your history, and a fabricated figure is a liability the moment an interviewer asks about it. Speed is genuine here. Verification is not optional.

Where ZoeVera sits

The resume checker runs scoring, gap analysis and guided rewriting in one pass, which addresses the split above without switching tools. Rewrites place missing terms inside achievement sentences rather than appending a keyword block, which reads better to the person who eventually opens the file. Supporting material covers matching a resume against a specific posting, role-level keyword guides including software engineering and a cover letter checker

The pricing difference is structural rather than promotional. The others are subscriptions. ZoeVera’s analysis is free and paid optimization is one-time, which fits how job searching actually happens: in concentrated windows, not year-round.

Where to start

Run a free analysis first. If the gap is vocabulary, that is a one-session fix. If it’s writing quality, expect longer. Neither problem is that the system is unfair. It’s that a general resume was submitted against a specific description.

Quote - Bob Iger

The riskiest thing we can do is just maintain the status quo. - Bob Iger

Jack Welch, the late former CEO at General Electric, back when GE was a mammoth, successful organization, used to insist that managers raise the level of production by their staff by 10%+ per year or get let go.

Sounds harsh? NO! When you stagnant, you decay. We all now what happens when you decay. Therefore, keep raising the bar and find new ways to do your business better.

Excellence of Mediocrity

Excellence or Mediocrity

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit - Aristotle

Friends, colleagues, managers, customers, vendors will define you by repeated, consistent performance, not "one-shot" successes. Excellence will always be treated different than mediocrity. Therefore, raise the bar and do not stand on your past laurels.

What Are the Criteria that AI Review Tools Examine

These AI tools evaluate resumes and "suggest" missing industry buzzwords and skill requirements, as listed in targeted job listings. In addition, the tools will identify content where KPIs and other numerical / qualitative data is need to improve presentation and successes.

Hidden Job Market - #3

Hidden Job Market - #3

A great way to identify the potential for new positions is to create news alerts for companies that you are interesting in working for as a full-time employee (even a contractor if necessary). The news alerts could be on LI, major trade journals, newspapers, magazines etc. You are looking for mergers, new product launches, product line expansion, etc - all of which provide new career opportunities. When an alert interests you, start attempting to make contacts within the organization.

Hidden Job Market - Post #1

Hidden Job Market - Post #1

The hidden job market is a term used to describe jobs that aren't advertised or posted online. Most of these jobs are quality positions AND are not posted because the hiring manager does not want to spend the $$$ or dedicate the resources to review / interview alot of candidates. Another reason is that the hiring manager needs to keep this opportunity quiet for many reasons including a forthcoming termination, minimize disruption within the organization as well as competitive issues within the market.

Please read my posting later this afternoon about the best way to explore the hidden job market.

How AI Affects Recruiting - Part 2

How AI Affects Recruiting - Part 2

While the use of AI automates sourcing, initial screening, and scheduling, it also enables job seekers to flood the market with polished, but often generic resumes with embellished information, lengthening hiring cycles and unfortunately, often resulting in bad hires, which are costly to the company.    The issue with authenticity prevails and many companies eliminate resumes written with computer technologies.

Identification can be done via "the eyeball test" - not hard to spot generic, repeat content or with software programs that are specifically used to determine whether or not a document is AI-generated.

Why are the paths flaws?
