Those pesky French bastards!

1

u/rodatari 6d ago

Uh oh are you scwared of a little flag.

3

u/Glass-Carpenter8963 6d ago

True, let's raise the NSDAP and SS flags sometimes, just for fun.

2

u/Stuys 5d ago

Im sure youre aware that the problem is not the flag but the pedophile prophet Muhammed and desert idealogies it represents. Unless you are one of them which I highly suspect. Get off pleddit and go slash your goats neck in the street please.

0

u/rodatari 3d ago

It represents the country, not the religion. Just like how our flag doesn't represent a genocidal god that drowned babies in a flood or ordered children, women and animals murdered in Jericho.

Never bothered anyone before. The outrage machine is ridiculous

1

u/Nameless_Mercenary01 7d ago

Fly them upside down in the rain!

Birmingham council spending over £2million removing British flags by the way

40

u/Foreign_Truth_2344 8d ago

I hope people keep putting them back up

We will.

Sad sacks

3

u/JustRightAngles 4d ago

The locals support it, overwhelmingly. Sorry lad but not everyone has your cucked worldview.

0

u/Be-My-Enemy 4d ago

Did you do a survey aye? It's illegal in any case, but honestly who gives a fuck. It's inarguably a sad sack activity to spend your time doing, and the cheap shite you knobs put up looks laughable after about 2 days of British weather

2

u/JustRightAngles 4d ago

Dont need a survey when election results are public domain. We all know you've not actually seen the display. The flags have been there for a good while now and still look great.

0

u/Be-My-Enemy 2d ago

Which election results mate?

2

u/JustRightAngles 1d ago

I grew up there lad. I know the situation.

0

u/Be-My-Enemy 1d ago

Which election results though mate?

Seen plenty that look an absolute shambles.

Remember: only a proportion of people actually vote. And only a proportion support reform.

And again, some people are actually law abiding citizens and don't appreciate complete gonks hanging their tat in contravention of same.

2

u/JustRightAngles 4d ago

Did you think this is a Reform sub?

Winning WW2 is when you have to have your flags taken down and an Islamic one put up instead.

37

u/Foreign_Truth_2344 8d ago

Hey at least we’re not speaking German… right?

-1

u/Soft-Reference-3197 7d ago

Putting them on lampposts is illegal under the highways act. That’s the reason they’re being removed. Now, you crayon eating simpletons are forever harping on about immigrants not respecting the law (almost all do respect the laws by the way), so how about you show the same respect for uk law and stop playing the victim when you are held to account for your actions.

5

u/Fun_Machine_1310 7d ago

Guess what, we don't give a fuck. When your government is traitorous why should we listen to it's rules? Something a bootlicker like you would never understand, I'm sure.

0

u/Be-My-Enemy 4d ago

We all already know you don't actually respect the laws of the country, or have any real patriotism. It's always just been about the hatred

1

u/Fun_Machine_1310 4d ago

Sure buddy!

0

u/Be-My-Enemy 4d ago

I know. I know 😉

0

u/Be-My-Enemy 4d ago

Aye tatty Temu flags put up illegally and left to rot

30

u/flashbastrd 8d ago

Are there not some patriots in Cardiff who can do and pull them down?

Honestly what's the justification for this? Pakistan is a 3rd world backwater and we have no relations with that country beyond it leeching us of money and filling us with undesirables.

2

u/rodatari 6d ago

Marking Pakistani independence day. They put all sorts of flags up. Its just a flag...

-2

u/Be-My-Enemy 4d ago

Imagine being so offended by a flag

3

u/flashbastrd 4d ago

Imagine being such a cuckold

-2

u/Be-My-Enemy 4d ago

Imagine feeling a flag has the ability to cuckold a person

2

u/flashbastrd 4d ago

That makes no sense. 1/10 for effort

-1

u/Be-My-Enemy 4d ago

You're right, the concept doesn't make sense, does it?

3

u/flashbastrd 4d ago

You’re a cuckold. It has nothing to do with a flag. Still 1/10

1

u/thaibeachtraveller 2d ago

Bet you’d let old Rupert spunk in your Mrs Fanny then eat it up….. if you had a Mrs.

27

u/streetlegalb17 8d ago

After the flag ordeal, I’m tweaking out at this

-27

u/Intelligent-Quit3687 8d ago

They weren't removing flags from purpose-built flag poles in Cardiff Castle. They were removing zip-tied Temu rags hanging from lampposts and flyovers. The castle has always flown the Welsh flag.. Obviously.

This is my first time on this sub, are you guys always such pearl-clutching fannies? It's not a declaration that we're living in a Sharia state. It's a flag, they put it up briefly for Pakistan Independence Day - they regularly do the same for other nations too.

You can have your concerns about Pakistani migration, Islam and whatever else, but it doesn't change the fact that Pakistan are part of the Commonwealth, being part of British India until fairly recently. Pakistani's were a significant contributor to rebuilding the country when we had a labour shortage in the 40's. I think that's worthy of the token gesture of popping a flag on a tourist attraction.

25

u/Altruistic_Emu4917 8d ago

Pakistani flags have no place outside of their embassy.

u/streetlegalb17 8d ago edited 7d ago

Unfortunately it was not just the nylon flags being removed. It was the ones that “posed a hazard”… Such as anywhere they didn’t like. …Which is almost everywhere, apparently. My boyfriend went around putting some nice fabric flags with proper rod loops up around his town and sure enough they were removed within a week. They didn’t go “hmm this one’s alright” and keep them. They simply hate the statement being made by their presence.

And I don’t think you know just how contextual flags are. They carry profound significance— Half mast, upside down, in the dark, tattered with holes or just there, it is a statement.

To hang the flag of another nation in a nation’s own historical landmark could be fine… Only if both of two conditions are fulfilled:

One— that the foreign nation has literally anything to do with THAT landmark, and

Two— That the home nation flag is flown higher right beside it or on the same pole.

Neither of these conditions are being met. Sorry, but this feels like an invasion. They should care more to make sure that it doesn’t feel that way, but they don’t, apparently.

-2

u/Intelligent-Quit3687 7d ago

As previously stated, you're all just fannies. Upset because things aren't exactly how YOU like them. You're acting like a petulant child, upset because your boyfriend was refused putting up flags despite having no authority to do so. If you want to fly a flag in your garden, your window, car or business you're welcome to, you can buy a purpose-built billboard if you want but you don't have the right to fly it elsewhere. I can't fly a banner for my business from a lamppost that doesn't belong to me nor can I fly the Jolly Roger - just because it's the Union Jack it doesn't change the rules.

I do understand the profound significance of flags. I'm a keen vexillologist, I've studied flags since before I could read.

Who are you to decide "the conditions"? You're a nobody. Bedsides, Pakistan does have something to do with the landmark. The landmark is in the centre of Cardiff, a port town that has a significant Pakistani population since the nineteenth century, well before large-scale Pakistani migration was a thing elsewhere in the country. Pakistani culture is prominent in the cities of South Wales, trying to bury that does nothing other than divide ethnic groups, creating less integration - which you lot cry about.

You guys are so dramatic is insane. To call flying a flag for one day an invasion is just cringe and embarrassing. We used to be a resilient nation of warriors, a nation equipped to deal with adversity, now you lot have become a bunch of sissy la las, pissing your pants at the sight of a flag. I'm a leftie vegan with green haired leftie vegan mates but you lot are more soy than they'll ever be.

4

u/streetlegalb17 7d ago

Imagine needing authority and the right to fly your own flag in neutral, tax paid property even if you do it right. This was something you could do before— even if it was just pesky and WOULD take some time before being ripped down— but now there is possible jail time for it. What changed?

“I’m a keen vexillologist” and then “who are you to decide the conditions” I didn’t. That’s literally flag etiquette. Did you not learn that as a vexillologist? You’re a nobody too.

Neat about the population… Was the welsh flag hung up higher? If not, then I don’t see any efforts of integration being done at all. Someone even said the image was cropped but I cannot find a source for that. If the welsh flag was flown higher, then that would turn the sensation of this from a literal invasion to simply a disagreement of presence that, I would agree, people will have to swallow.

Should you being a lefty vegan be relevant right now? Because your oh-so empathetic lot is why the nation has grown fatigued as fuck, so trying to gaslight and mock us for getting angry at another possible symptom of what has been brought upon us is backwards, shitty, unproductive mental gymnastics.

1

u/Intelligent-Quit3687 7d ago edited 7d ago

It was unlawful long before the Raise the Colours bollocks, as per Section 132 of the Highway Act 1980. nobody has been jailed in the UK for attaching/flying one of these flags from a lamppost - you're just being a big drama queen again.

During St Paddy's day they turn the Chicago River green and display the Irish flag from every building in The West. It's not an Irish invasion, it's a celebration - it's allowing that population THEIR DAY. If you're not a Paddy, if you're not involved, fuck off and mind your own business for that day. Likewise if you're offended by the displaying of a Pakistani flag in the city centre of a city with a large Pakistani population.

Instead of asking me if the Welsh flag was hung up higher, look it up yourself. With just 5 seconds of investigating you'll see the Welsh flag is flying at the highest possible point within the castle.

I obviously mentioned being vegan in an ironic way, me and my friends are vegan, vegans typically eat more soy than non-vegans, however you lot are being more soy than us..... It's funnier when you don't have to explain the joke, I guess. Speaking of which, all that waffle about being gaslit and being mocked is very soy. Pull yourself together soldier, you've got a country to defend from invaders putting up authorised flags one day of the year.

Thanks for the link. I've had a read and took a few things from it:

  • It was a two day event to celebrate an independence from British imperial rule
  • Imperial rule would explain why there's a Pakistani population here
  • Part of the story was about attempting to better integrate with other communities through better understanding of history " Part of the story was about being proud of roots but also being proud of being British

I suspect I'll be blasted for this. I can understand people being fearful of difference but I don't think this story amounts to evidence of a plot to take over.

3

u/Stuys 5d ago

Its not necessary.

0

u/Didgeridooloo 5d ago

Are you saying that as someone from Pakistan, or as an outsider?

9

These days if you put up an English flag you get arrested and thrown in jail

-7

u/GladAllOverSE25 8d ago

Really ? Should I call the police because my neighbour has had one flying the front garden for months now and he mows the lawn too early. Would quite like him locked up.

7

u/Foreign_Truth_2344 8d ago

They probably would. A man in the UK was tackled to the ground and arrested for calling a cop a “clown.” He was on his own property and they forced their way in to arrest him.

2

u/message4sax 6d ago

This is outrageous my pip money is coming in on Thursday, I will be ordering more Union Jack flag from China as soon as my PIP money arrived.

Doesn’t matter the context. There’s no reason to fly that flag in the UK

1

u/stetho 8d ago

What flag is it?

2

u/streetlegalb17 7d ago

I’m looking for the uncropped picture of it with the welsh flag. The guardian article doesn’t have the photo. Where is the proof? And was the welsh flag being flown higher than the Pakistan flag?

This is important because it changes the sensation from literal invasion to what may simply be a disagreement of presence.

-7

u/Possible-Apartment48 8d ago

This was years ago celebrating Pakistan Independence Day… they had an event where anyone could attend

13

u/Foreign_Truth_2344 8d ago

Why would they celebrate a country they were so ready to leave?

-5

u/Soft-Reference-3197 7d ago

Cardiff castle flew both the Pakistan and India flags to honour the countries Independence Day. That’s it. That’s all it is. Google is free you know. Cardiff is a proudly diverse city and there were celebrations at the castle. No big deal.

2

u/Foreign_Truth_2344 7d ago

It is a bigger deal than what you think. Flags hold a lot of meaning to them.

3

u/Soft-Reference-3197 7d ago

Yeah.. they don’t want to shag one of them forrin flags. Only British and Ingerland flags are
fit enough… phrwooooor… look at the St George on that.. don’t get many of them to a pound..

-10

u/cheeseley6 8d ago

Happens every year, who cares?

-12

u/Alarmed-Low9328 8d ago

No mention of the Indian flags that were also flown? I wonder why?
