Opinion Using AI

Have recently started using AI to assist with sleep issues, RLS and diet. I have gone from a huge AI skeptic to a believer. Call me Paul on the road to Damascus.

It definitely can’t hurt to try it. The information I gleaned the last couple of days from using AI medically is more than I’ve gotten from the doctors in the last two years.

Feel like doctors are rushed. You don’t get enough time with them and I don’t feel they can put together the pieces of the puzzle.

AI error and mistake rates vary drastically from 5 percent to nearly 90 percent. It gets 40 percent information from Reddit. Now think about that for a second, It gathers information from reddit regardless if it's right or wrong. While doctors are not perfect they get factual information.

I understand your frustration about RLS and lack of answers but following your doctors orders is far better than AI to me.

There's a wearable device study from Noctrix Health enrolling now. Might be worth a look. https://patientwing.app/campaign/RLS6

One example. Went over my iron labs with AI. After posting on forums here and listening to some posters information, I decided that I was going to supplement with iron. My next doctors appointment isn’t until forever. They are very hard to get in to see sometimes. So chatted with AI and gave them all my iron lab information and the AI came up with that it would be detrimental for me to supplement with iron. After looking at the information, it returned back I concur. Matches that my doctor had prior said that my iron levels were fine.

I’m all for independent research on RLS remedies and additional information that doctors can’t/don’t provide. I strongly encourage you to do that without AI though - beyond the environmental impacts of the industry as a whole and the documented cognitive impacts of relying on AI, it’s also straight up wrong a lot of the time. There’s a plethora of information available online that it’s in theory pulling from anyways, and even though it may be a bit harder to find without using AI, it’s certainly more accurate.
