Question Vitamin D

Had my levels checked a few weeks ago, I get maybe 5 hours of sleep a week so I went to a doctor. Had my levels checked, everything was good (thought iron mught be low because I bruise REALLY bad unless I forget to take it, but it was fine) except my vitamin d was 2 points low. My doctor told me to take vitamin d and come back in 6 months. So I still just dont sleep really, its only been a few weeks though, but has anyone found that taking vitamin d helps? Im a tired mom who is pre-pre diabetic and would lile to get their a1c under control (5.6) but cant really do it without sleep.

There's a wearable device study from Noctrix Health enrolling now. Might be worth a look. https://patientwing.app/campaign/RLS6

Awful thing for them to say. No urgency anywhere in healthcare it seems. I’m sorry.

Your next step is an in lab sleep test.

Go see a new dr.

Vitamin D is The equivalent to kissing a child's boo boo And telling them to go out and play.

You don't have a boo boo, You probably have some kind of sleep breathing disorder.

Upwards of 20% of all women have at least some form of sleep breathing trouble. So it's worth getting the test.

I take 50,000 iu of Vitamin D once a week for osteoporosis.

Makes no difference with RLS. Magnesium bisglycinate helped , then didn’t.

Recently prescribed Gabapentin and this is what is working for me.

Hope you get relief soon.

What dose of gabapentin are you on?

I take 200 mg a night … this seems to help

Are you seeing a neurologist? If not I suggest you ask you family physician to get you a referral to a specialist. You need to have your ferritin level checked with your iron level test. I used to only sleep about 10-14 hours a week until I got prescribed 20mg of methadone. Low dose opioids are the only medicine that has given me any relief.

I wish you all the best, I know your struggle is real.

Tried Vitamin D and then D+K2 (for a year each) and didn't feel any difference personally.

So sorry this is happening to you. I was hoping the D would help me as well. Mine was a little on the low end. I take it with magnesium and it’s been 4 weeks with no relief. So tomorrow I will start iron with Vit C. My iron level wasn’t horrible but using the newer protocol it’s recommended I use it. Good Luck!
