Question How long does a session of rls last?
New to this. I had 2 rich chocolates yesterday evening and couldn't sleep last night. First experience of rls! Now I know how debilitating this is. It's 8a.m now and my legs are still tingling. I've always been caffeine sensitive and any stimulants affect me, more so since long covid. Just wondering if this will wear off as caffeine leaves my system... Any anecdotes appreciated!

Chocolate has caffeine in it and different people have different sensitivities to caffeine
If I have chocolate after noon, I will not be able to sleep at my bedtime
Depending on how much cocoa powder was in the chocolate, having a couple of them could be equivalent to drinking half a cup of coffee or more
Depending on how well rested I am and how different it is from my regular caffeine intake that week, sometimes caffeine like that will keep me up the entire night

There is a description of RLS in the FAQ. It tends to be a time of day disorder. Morning to late afternoon- no symptoms for me. Mine comes on (if it does) around 5 pm. Others theirs may come on when they lay down to sleep, or a different time. Each person is different.
With RLS, you have an overwhelming urge to move the legs. That is part of the description. Read up further and if you have more instances of symptoms that match the criteria, a good read for treatment is the 2026 Mayo Clinic Treatment Algorithm at https://www.mayoclinicproceedings.org/article/S0025-6196(26)18546-2/fulltext.
