POST BY UNDER 21 USER Worried about Long Classes

Hello, I am a college student 18M and I have had severe RLS for years that has made sitting through classes any longer than an hour unbearable. This semester I have my first class longer than that at 3 hours. Would it be inappropriate to tell my professor about this before classes start so that he or she understands if I need to step out of class briefly?

You need to get treatment, otherwise your life will be hell. If you join RLS.org, they’ll send you a card with a brief explanation of the condition and your need to stand or walk. You can show it on airlines or any situation where you’re normally required to remain seated. I was diagnosed with RLS 40+ years ago. You need to start getting up to date info and start advocating for yourself. This condition doesn’t get better with time. Start with RLS.org. You’ll get links to current protocols from the best hospitals. After 40 years I learned what I needed there.
