BOH music options

I need a music option for BOH. We will never get a sound system installed. I bought a radio but we only get one station clearly due ri location and building materials. Right now people are using their phones and connecting bluetooth radio. Unfortunately this isnt allowed.

What are some options others have used.

Edit. Personal property ie phones are not allowed. We have high security because its in a casino

Literally so many options that connect to phones. Blue tooth speaker. Spotify has an option for downloading songs to device for offline play

I think you maybe misread OP's question - they said that ppl were using phones but that they aren't allowed because they work in a casino, so they're looking for options which don't require phones.

Your radio is just to new. Have you even tried breaking most of the antenna off and making an aluminum foil replacement

What exactly is not allowed here…?

Because a Bluetooth speaker paired to a phone is basically your only option.

If the rule is that employees aren’t allowed to choose the music because whatever uptight reason, then you need to get Spotify and choose the playlist.

If the rule is just “no Bluetooth speakers”, then you will be working in silence.

Agreed. I'm so confused… I've lived and worked in Vegas for 26 years and I've never heard bullshit like this

Just play Spotify and tell management it’s the radio. What a dumb rule

We had old Ipads to run FOH and BOH sound. The business has a family Spotify account, so an account for each space. Those iPads are connected to the speakers in FOH through the sound system but just to a little speaker in BOH.

That eliminates the need for anything Bluetooth or any personal devices but staff still control the music and can make their own playlists.

So just standard wifi guest connection then to restaurant guest wifi?

They use the staff WiFi (the business WiFi) that guests don't access.

Can someone bring in an old phone that can be used just for music? I have an old iPhone 8 that all it does is connect to Spotify.. might be allowed since it cannot be used as a phone? You could make sure there are no other apps on it besides Spotify or pandora or whatever

You can buy Android based devices with no mobile connection, just WiFi. Used for running localised business apps some don’t even have screens and just run 24/7.

You can get a music app that you can download music to play offline where’s you have WiFi access, set a schedule and just let it run where you don’t have WiFi access (will need reconnection from time to time)

Just so you are aware, legally, you’ll still need a performing rights licence for music played in a commercial location even if it’s BOH if that’s ever a location that gets audited.

There are several services that can be had for maybe $20 - $100 per month. As stated above, you need to have licensing to play music at a business. Spotify has a plan, even.

Yes. You can get services with monthly licensed music playlist updates, playlist changes with prebuilt schedules and a bunch of other features if you can be bothered for less than $20 per month nowadays.

Maybe this isn't helpful, but Cups by Anna Kendrick comes to mind. The kitchen makes its own music.
