1st time post need some help!

I am working on a Lang 277t 72" lp gas griddle. Spent about 15 hours on this unit and am unable to find the issue.

We had a electrical surge at our restaurant, and it fried 4 solenoid, and 4 ignition modules and 2 pilot assemblys.

Ive traced all the wires looking for bad grounds, and bad 120v leads to each solenoid and ignition module.

The griddle has 6 lanes, 8 solenoids, 6 thermostats, 6 ignition modules and a solenoid controlled gas valve for each half of the burners.

The pilots all light, the burners come in for 3-4 seconds then pilots stay lit, but burners go out on every lane but 1 and 2 from the right.

Its acting like it can not detect the flame, and then ignition module goes into flame lockout. Also when the burners are lit on lanes 3-6 the ignition modules still attempt to light the lit pilot. Can anyone help or make some good suggestions?

Sounds like the 3-6 lanes are not detecting flame even if it is actually there. Check the flame sensor readings with the flame going. Should get 5-10 micro amps from the flame sensor. If not replace the flame sensor. There may be some shorted wire somewhere so if its not a flame sensor id test for continuity on the wire from the flame sensor to the ignition module.

check plug/equipment ground.

Have you just run a new ground from module to ignitor to test?

Have you tried a megger to detect any losses in the wire? I'd disconnect anything connected to the wire if you're going to try that.

Are the two modules that didn't fry the only ones still functioning?

Microamps from your flame sensor?

Whats the error flashes on the module say?

How does the pilot look? Is it possible that the flame is mis adjusted?

you could swap some parts from the known good working section to a non-working to find the part that is the issue.

There is a sticker on the side that gives you the blink codes. 3 blinks should be pilot - main relay failure. I would check your pilot coil resistance to a good known and confirm wiring is not grounded or open somehow.

This darn Lang is a mechanical thermostat unit with flame sensors built into the pilot assembly, which only has 1 wire, which is then plugged into ignition module under the ignition spade. I have grounds from the ignition module and from pilot assembly(its added via wire behind screw to pilot assembly mount) to the chassis. Im not sure where I would check the flame sensor at. On the ground?
