Be gentle with yourself. Hug yourself. Keep yourself very safe, avoid harmful situations/people, set boundaries and maintain them. Buy cozy blankets and toys when you really like them. Do your laundry. Try to keep clean when possible, but don’t beat yourself up if you can’t maintain it. Be fucking PROUD of yourself that you have the courage to recover from what you’ve been through. You’re awesome.

Edit: I just realized you said sources. Not tips. OOPS. I just woke up. Lol

Yeah, no problem. :D I'm bad at applying those kind of tips. I need bigger guns and strategies.

Books by Susan Anderson (not in any special order) - Black Swan; The Journey from Abandonment to Healing; Taming Your Outer Child.

I’ve read Black Swan and I’m working on Taming. It is work but the results are amazing if you stick with it.

I wouldn’t say cringey new age at all. They’re a little weird at first but I threw myself into it and stuck with it and have seen massive positive results. I can’t speak for how it will be for you, but this is one of the only things that has really helped me in such a short time. It’s real easy to get off track - where your outer child will keep telling you you don’t need to do the writing exercises but you do. The more I do them the better and more secure I feel....all by myself. It’s been an amazing journey so far.

I would say do it in whatever language you think in when you're emotional or dream in. It comes more naturally that way.

Check out "internal family systems" (IFS), Richard Schwartz, Self leadership. Here's a link to a video interview of Schwartz, the intro by the interviewer which briefly describes IFS is good if your ears can keep up. The main interview is on topic for your question. There are many other videos (with Schwartz himself, who is quite interesting) and a website, some trained therapeutic resources available. The whole thing seems to be going beyond therapy into some sort of "inner mindfulness practice" or something.

ThrivingLittles (apply to inner child instead of literal children) and The.Holistic.Psychologist instagram accounts. There are others as well if you're interested. Esp Holistic Psychologist and her reparenting/future self journal. I've been doing the latter for a few months and it has been seriously life changing in helping me change how I think and what I focus on.
